For some reason I think people are getting over-excited and buying the wrong item. Doubt anyone of sanity is buying the box intentionally.

Mint boxen can become rare and expensive later on.
This applies to many consoles.

The striking thing in this case is, that if you are such a collector, you should have bought a xbox yourself of course.
Or your own box is already damaged.

I still have my MegaDrive, PSX, 64 and Dreamcast consoles including there boxes in good condition.
And my most beloved demo, Demo 1 in his original casing.
I try to keep everything I have in a nice condition.
Of course I didn't always do that when I was young, but some things still have survived really well.

The only boxes I collect are my game console boxes and Apple product boxes. I kept my iPhone and Macbook Pro boxes cause they are nice to look at and are high quality.

When Wii Fit Plus came out, I bought it for $20 and listed my Wii Fit game (no board) for $5. I was just hoping to sell it to reduce the cost of Wii Fit Plus.

Someone bought the game for $35. I actually made a profit on the whole ordeal.

Clearly they didn't read it and thought it was with the board or something. Also had to have been at least two people for the auction price to go that high lol.
