He said his power indicator light turns orange in standby mode, which is what you've highlighted. There is nothing to setup, you simply select "Enter Standby Mode".

He needs setup the Standby mode.

"If there are no checkmarks set in the settings under (Settings) > [Power Save Settings] > [Set Functions Available in Standby Mode], the system turns off completely."

If not it will just turn off.

So the PS4 UI is a convoluted mess just like the PS3? It literally took me 10 minutes to figure out how to sync a bluetooth headset to PS3 when I bought one.  Stanby mode should be automatically selected.

Nope.

No... it is not convuluted mess.

I think the Stanby shetthing are enable automatically but I don't know what is happening with his case.

BTW I will bargain my PS4 this Saturday (lowest price for now is R$1900)... so if everything goes well I make more tests.

What I really believe what's happening is the following:

PS4 is not really installing the games initially, but rather copying the essential components of the game to launch the game. From that point on, they continue "caching" starting from the most frequently used components to the least. Then when you first load a campaign, it will be relatively slower since chances that not all of the parts were cached, forcing some parts to be read from the disc. The good thing is that this is really a well executed / streamlined process, and further loading will be faster as they'll be entirely cached.

On XB1, however, they are just basically installing the game; stage by stage. This is why it takes this much time. So the stages that are installed are instantly available, and load slightly faster than PS4 as XB1 reads the entire data from the hard drive unlike PS4 which reads parts of data from the Bray disc until the installation process is complete.On XB1, this is an afterthought. MS didn't originally plan such a feature, and they are merely trying to "response" to the streamlined process on PS4. Things may improve later though.

Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates

Regional Analysis  (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe     => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 :  49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global     => XB1 :  32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%

everything is checkmarked

I don't know what is happening or how to help you... maybe it is some weird bug.

The video you posted earlier of the PS4 starting from standby mode is not accurate. It takes about 15-20 seconds to reach the login screen from standby mode.

no its quite simple. and if it took you 10 minutes to set up bluetooth, that is your fault. it shouldnt take anybody more than a minute.

and if navigating a Cross is dificult for you, there's perhaps something wrong with you. either that, or your lying. because the xmb just may be the easiest thing to navigate, since there arent many layers/folders, its layed out in a Cross shape. scroll up/down, left/right.

also its extremely easy to go into standby mode, the PS4 just gives you options on what you want it to do in standby mode. like activate USB ports, stay connected to the internet, being able to remotely turn it on from the internet. if you dont want some of those features on, you can turn it off.

its extremely simple.

Sorry, it was kupomogli who posted the video.

After reviewing some other videos on Youtube, it seems that people are experiencing different results. Some videos show a 5-10 sec boot from standby, and some show a 15-20 boot.

Thats funny because my xbox one installs in much quicker time than that. Plus xbox one also does background downloads so i dont what they are talking about.

? Show your numbers... and says which games too... tried any of the listed in the OP?

I only tried it with Ryse and DR3.

I got a little over 3 minutes on both.

I probably got a good working xbox one.

Plus i have friends that own one too and they tell me their installs are pretty fast too. Similar to their ps4 so i guess kotaku has a bad xbox.
