I think so personally. Think about it, the Xbox One and PS4 both have the same architectures, and the two most simplest architectures at that, meaning that dev costs won't skyrocket due to the higher quality graphic assetts, games will be ported easier, games will be made faster, and there will be more games being made overall. There's gonna be a ton of new IP's and a bunch of reexisting ones coming back and all types of creative ways of gaming using PS Mobile, Kinect 2.0, PSEYE, Gamepad, and Smartglass, we can see some classic series come back to life like: Shenmue, Crash Bandicoot, Syphon Filter, Star Fox. We can even have VR headsets become mainstream if Sony pulls it off right. 

Microsoft has a ton of new studios I believe, if not then they just have a ton of studios working on Xbox One games.

Naughty Gods, Guerilla Games, SSM, Polyphon Digital, and Japan Studios all have multiple teams meaning we'll get incredible game after incredible game. 

Nintendo is, well, Nintendo. Sure the Wii U might not sell as most would like it to, but the games will be high quality no doubt, personally I can't wait for X.

that is dependant on what games you like, for me its an obvious no. The death of 3d platformer collectathons and diminishing number of JRPGs compared to the N64/PSone means I know that this gen wont be as good for me.

Anything is possible, but I'd be surprised if this generation ends up being better than the last, nevermind the best ever. Games in general have been getting worse, not better, and I think this gen will continue that trend.

if Activision stops being a lazy as publisher and make the game we all want and are dreaming for, then yes. so it all depends if they make a new pitfall game or not.

I put maybe because you never know how a gen is gonna end up gamewise.

Has the potential. Certainly the best hardware a gen has ever had with the xbone and PS4. Lets see what they do with it.

Now, the death of 3d platformer... It happened during the PS3/360 gen. The 6th gen had plenty of them. Thank God Nintendo is stilla round. Mario games have never been better.
