Wii U is at 1.538 million in the US and 0.874 million in Europe. PS4 is at 0.948 million in the US and historically the PS3 has sold better in Europe. In just those two markets, the Wii U should be passed within a few weeks.

However that's ignoring Japan and the rest of the world which means globally the Wii U shouldn't be outsold this year.

magical assumption that ps4 can keep selling launch numbers weekly and that wii u sales will freeze in time.

You mean retaliation? Eh, probably not. The Wii's heyday was a long time ago. Nintendo fans had to suffer a Wii drought before they even got to a Wii U drought. I think any real virulent feelings have since dissipated.

Nintendo is always doomed so its nothing new...

But in reality, the wiiU's sales was/is well below expectations... But it is hard to tell if its cause no one wants the wiiU or if Nintendo has done a bad job at marketing it or a combination of both... Heres hoping 2014 will look better

If this is a Wii U thread, or more specifically a Wii U Doom thread, no; the Wii U is not doomed, but any sort of lingering hopes Nintendo fans might have of it making some miraculous turnaround where it becomes a serious player in the 8th gen is probably going to be disappointed.

Leave Nintendo where it has been comfortable during the N64 and GC generations; as a smaller niche gaming platform with many of the best first party IPs and a loyal fan base to support these releases. All the Wii U really has to do is carry the torch to the next generation of hardware.

No, the Wii U really just isn't that great of a console and Nintendo has done little to really bring interest to people about the Wii U. Plain and simple

I'm not assuming that. Instead of explaining the numbers, I'll just bump this in three weeks.

The numbers right now are 1,323k PS4 and 1,784k Wii U in America. 824k PS4 and 989k Wii U in Europe. It looks like I was wrong about America, but Europe is too close to call. Do you still care about these numbers? I'm up for bumping again post adjustments.

The title of this thread got me excited and the actual content was a big letdown, so I'll just go with what I wanted it to really be about.

People that refer to themselves as "hardcore gamers" primarily play video games that put them in the role of a big, striding, muscle-bound hero, mowing down enemies and saving the world and bedding bitches. THAT is what reeks of compensation.

A guy that plays Kirby is probably pretty secure.
