It;s not bad for COD to sell well but to me at least its a clear indicator that the "PS4 has won this Gen" crowd is getting way too far ahead of themselves. If the Ghosts and BF4 sales numbers are any indicator of where things are going (all systems combined) then it is going to take a whole lot more then a bunch of FPS games and half assed sequels to sell 80+ million units. Nintendo learned this the hard way already with NSMBU, and I have a feeling that Sony and Microsoft in about 6 months will be wondering why their sales have plopped, while the Wii U is selling like crazy.

So you say PS4/XB1 wont sell well with nothing but sequels, yet you expect the Wii U to sell like crazy with nothing but sequels aswell lol? Also, PS4 wont need to sell 80 million to win this gen, sadly.

Bolded/underlined.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Different type of Sequels though.  What I really mean are these franchises that keep pumping games out so fast that no one cares anymore.   Gears of War is a great example. 1st and 2nd sold amazing.  3rd went down a little.  4th bombed.   If they only made 1 and 2 and waited until X1 to do 3 then it would be system seller but now its a dead franchise.    Same with Halo, expect 4 has great looking sales because you can buy it brand new for 15 - 20 bucks already. Dead Space for EA is another that comes to mind.  Mario Kart and Smash Bros have had 6 year gaps and the new games are completly upgraded and will feel fresh.   Its the same reason why GTA V sold 26 million already...you have to wait to create demand or else no one cares anymore.

Did anyone else notice the numbers on the front page?  Apparantly 1 079 311 PS4s were sold and 808 779 copies of Cod Ghosts was sold on PS4, so 75% of the people that bought a PS4 got Cod Ghosts with it...does that make anyone die a little inside?  I guess FPS's are gonna be even more prevalent next gen than they were this gen.

That doesn't even include people who did the next-gen upgrade, and people like myself who Downloaded the game off PSN

So its possible that COD Ghosts really sold 900k on PS4.

no

i bought my ps4 along with only COD the game is ok and extinction is very enjoyable i prefer it to zombies id rate the game 8.5, next game i get is NFS rivals

Hard numbers to believe. If you notch it down about 200k- sounds right.
But who knows. CoD is...cod. I still can't fathom why so many people dig the franchise anymore.

Probably because it's fun. Shocking I know. :L

I can also confirm that Call of Duty is fun. No, I'm not one of the typical dudebro casual gamers that people tend to associate with CoD, I'm a core gamer who likes all types of games.

I'm with you. I have the Wii U version and even though it's the same formula, it's still fun. I skipped Black Ops 2 and MW3 so maybe thats why I don't hate it as much as some people do.

LOL COD console. 4 hour sucky campaign games seems like the new thing for next gen. If its not online multiplayer then buying those games is pointless. I guess "always online" does not only apply to the Xbone anymore since you need to pay to play for the best experience.

Ok, and? lol I kid. Quality clearly isn't the biggest factor when it comes to sales as apparent by this thread, since CoD sold well, but everyone here would have you believe the game is bad/mediocre/whatever. Basically what I said still stands.

What else were they supposed to get.... Knack?

What I did, I enjoy platformers. *Shakes old man cane*

Yea, I don't know why Knack gets so much flack.  From the demo I played in Gamestop and the vids I have watched on Youtube, the game seems like a hoot.  Oh well, I'm definitely going to be getting it next year with my PS4.

@ OP

I don't know.  That attach ratio does seem kinda high.  We'll just have to wait til NPD to confirm the numbers.  Did Activision release any numbers?

Perception: Archaic versus old school.

I have no issue in classic gaming from the SNES or PS2 days getting new entries with shiny graphics.  To me Sly Cooper 4 was one of the best game I played this year, likely won't make any publications top twenty, much less top ten.

I suppose that's true, though right now Ass Creed, CoD, Battlefield, Madden, etc. are still selling well enough, so I don't think it's gonna mean anything for Wii U beating them out.
