Forums - Microsoft - Apps on XBox one

Well, this is pretty straight-forward: since the X1 UI is a cross-section with W8, will we possibly not see a whole bunch of apps coming to X1 in the future, developed by users or established companies?

The more I thought about, the more potential I see in it: users developing map apps, kindle apps, kinect experimentation apps, useless apps :) and alot more.

What kind of apps would you like to see on X1? It could be existing ones or those that reside in you brains :).

I wish they would port most of the Win 8 Apps. Atleast the games anyway!

It is near the end of the end....

Yes, that is the thinking when they united Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and the Xbox One on several platforms. So there would be more things written cross platform.

I would like to see something like the solar system model like some astronomy app a friend has, with star maps and planets. Updated in relatively real time.

Also be neat to fly around the glob in a fairly detailed animated map. So you could change the seasons, see Angle and Niagara Falls, a look of Kileau erupting, stuff like that.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Give me a steambox kind of app and I wouldn't buy anything else. Stream my steam games from my pc to the Xbox one, letting me play them with my Xbox one controller. Even if it's only a playto app and I have to use my Xbox 360 controller hooked up to my PC, I wouldn't mind. Of course this will never happen, because people wouldn't buy Xbox one games.

I could see this happening in a couple of years if the steambox idea doesn't take off at all.  Maybe M$ could work a deal with a kickback from steam on games purchased through an XBOX app.  You never know if a company gets desperate.  That could go both ways, as If the XB1 doesn't take off, M$ is aiming to get them in the living rooms regardless.   They could give up the games revenue or have the XBOX app exclude all games currently available on the XB1 or create a $10 fee to add XB1 capability.  M$'s endgame is clearly to keep itself relevent by getting into the living room.  That along with their cellphone and tablet presence makes them appear to be on equal ground with Apple and Google from the common consumers perspective.

VLC, XBMC -> perfect media center

Question for those who have the system.

I know you can't load 360 cd's but a lot of my games are downloads, can you re-download 360 and arcade games you already bought?

Does the IE app have flash?

That is really smart and I don´t think MS care too much if you buy products on PC or XBox, just aslong as they get their share :). Imagine having emulators and all kind of things streaming to your One :).
