I could see this happening in a couple of years if the steambox idea doesn't take off at all. Maybe M$ could work a deal with a kickback from steam on games purchased through an XBOX app. You never know if a company gets desperate. That could go both ways, as If the XB1 doesn't take off, M$ is aiming to get them in the living rooms regardless. They could give up the games revenue or have the XBOX app exclude all games currently available on the XB1 or create a $10 fee to add XB1 capability. M$'s endgame is clearly to keep itself relevent by getting into the living room. That along with their cellphone and tablet presence makes them appear to be on equal ground with Apple and Google from the common consumers perspective.
