Forums - Gaming - Japan: A place where gamers value gameplay over graphics and resolution

How about a console that can do both? I mean have you tried R&C: a crack in time?

*Warning: Heavy criticizing of Nintendo ahead*

I choose whatever console appeals to me, in my case, the playstation consoles. I have a Wii, but only for xenoblade. I've played mario a thousand times, the zelda series isn't that appealing and everything else was not spectacular.

I don't know where people get the idea that the 360 and the PS3 were just graphics. There is a truly outstanding variety of games on both consoles, displaying their superior graphical prowess and innovative gameplay with the controller. I am completely sure that the casual crowd got the Wii to where it is now, you can quote me all you want, it will not change my PERSONAL perspective on the Wii's success.

With the casual crowd moving on to something else, what we have left with the Wii U is an underwhelming console, struggling to find its place and show off its capabilities against the hyped Sony and MS consoles who are breaking records at this point. Nintendo has plenty of legendary and recognizable franchises in their ranks but with a console that many people don't see as a step up (aside from the already loyal Nintendo crowd), it's going to be hard for Nintendo go gain back that momentum they had on the 7th generation.

The 3DS on the other hand, is a goddamn monster.

I made a point about ps3 having inferior versions of multiplat games

I know that wii graphics had improved, but the diference between the galaxy and sunshine is not only visual. What is different between fifa 14 and fifa 13?

not the graphics, exactly why i said that graphics don't really matter much for western gamers. if they would care so much about graphics they would only buy one fifa game per gen and not every new release even if it looks like the game before.

or do you want to tell me that western gamers buy fifa 14 even if it looks like 13 because of the graphics?

Ok, let me reformulate the question. What is the difference between FIFA 14 on ps3 and on ps4?

This argument would probably make more sense if you were comparing the PS2 and original Xbox, what Japanese developed games have had vast disparity between the PS3 and 360 versions? Bayonetta?

I said that the ps3 versions were inferior compared with the xbox360. I never said that xbox360 had VASTLY supperior versions because it hadn't

It's still very trivial at best in regards to the point you're trying to make.

more fluid gameplay and graphics. not sure why this tells me that western gamers care so much about graphics and not gameplay just because some will buy fifa 14 on ps4. would a ps3 and ps4 owner buy fifa 14 on ps4 if it would be only better looking? maybe but that doesn't mean that he only buys fifa because of better graphics, only the chosen version is another one. would the average japanese gamer owning a current gen and next gen console purchase a game on the next gen console even if it would be exactly the same game as on the current gen? i would think so. i don't think that the next armored core game would sell 0 units on a next gen console in japan just because it would be the same game as on current gen just with a higher resolution.

It's all about gameplay, but better hardware can create better more believable worlds and help improve gameplay, or improve elements that support gameplay. Better A.I., physics, lighting and decent framerate are important things to look for. Of course there are other important elements that are not tied to hardware - like story telling. Some games have more interesting stories on the SNES than the PS3/360. I value a powerful (or at least capable) hardware, but I also value gameplay. There have been games that didn't require much resources that were fantastic.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

FIFA 13 to FIFA 14 difference??? The updated rooster.
