Forums - Sales - PSP outsells DS two weeks in a row in Japan.

Nope, I'm only saying that we should wait a bit longer before signaling a sea change, especially since the DS hasn't had a major release, redesign or price cut in a while. Also, NA and Europe have seemingly picked up any sales that have dropped in Japan.

Deja vu? But it is fact...... Give PSP some credit, FishyJoe!

Blame it on Valentine's day.
It's COOL to give PSP as a gift to girl friends in Japan. Look at how pink PSP been sold out at Amazon for several weeks already.

Joke aside, the PSP software lineup is overall stronger than DS for the next few months, but DS has DQ series yet to release. I won't be surprised to see PSP and DS outsell each other week by week in Japan this year.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

I think we should wait more than two weeks to start screaming about saturation.

Deja vu. Remember when the PS3 beat the Wii for a couple weeks? We all know how that turned out. *looks at current Wii and PS3 sales in Japan*

you beat me to it. ps3 was beating wii in november. but it turned around very quick. you cant expect a console to be top ALL the time. ds will rise over psp again.

Everyone has a DS, so now they need something else. I guess, lol.

Yeah, but that was because of the release of DW 6. The PSP hasn't seen any big released (unless you count that gundam game as a big game). The fact that it's outselling the PSP doesn't mean much, it will NEVER get up with the DS nor will the software compete (unfortunatly). The thing that I do wonder is: how the hell did the sales get such a huge increase? I remember it sold about 20k units around september, it's gone sky-high since the release of the slim PSP. Can a new model be the cause of an increase this big? If so, bring that PS3 slim, Sony!

That gundam game is relatively a "big" game... in fact, any gundam game is. Although it is not like DS is without any new releases this week either. So, who know how the future will turns out

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

i said it last week, it's shouldn't be so surprising. it's been like 2 months in the making now.

the Wii is an epidemic.

PSP beat DS in Japan by how many? (Over 9,000)? Oh, 20,000. Ok.

In other news, DS outsells PSP two to one worldwide.

Eh, I see the significance, but... I don't think it matters in the big scheme of things. Unless the PSP can start moving software like the DS can, developers will continue to shy away from it. And without software sales, the PSP can't be the endless cash flow to Sony that the DS is to Nintendo.

This is not surprising to me. The fact is that DS has already hit its prime and is now declining while PSP is at its high point.

Don't flame me for this all but...

could something like this happen to the PS3 when Wii reaches say 20 million or so..

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey
