Forums - Nintendo - Need some info about Wii U!

I'd rather say that you should evaluate why you have had issues liking the Wii, since it's a pretty darn good console in my honest opinion. Then you should move on with U.

The main reason why I disliked the Wii so much was it's lack of online features. I've been spoiled by XBL over the years, and I'm also a pretty hardcore PC gamer, so I'm just used to the games I play having excellent online offerings.

I also wasn't overly impressed by the game library. I mean, the system was on the market for what, 6 years before the Wii U came along? And there are only 5-6 games that I truly enjoyed for the system. That's an average of 1 per year....that's far from good. Maybe I'm just too picky lol.

I am the anti online gamer. I hate pvp and I hate most online experiences. I still haven't applied the day 1 patch from Nintendo to my Wii U. All I really care about are the games. Regardless of what the hype has been, Nintendo provided a damn good launch for game selection.

I have played with my brother some of the multiplayer games. Zombi U has something like a zombie master versus the survivor game mode for it. Zombie master places zombies around the map to try and kill the survivors. Has a bunch of variations like capture the hill, etc.

New Super Mario Bros U was probably better as a single player game. More players just makes a mess of the screen really, but it's a party option type of thing

That's what the Wii U comes down to. Its a console for hosting live parties with your friends. If you have that, then you will be happy with what you are offered.

NNID is no different than Live or PSN account ids.

Games are tied to NNID, which at this moment is then tied to console. However, Nintendo has already stated this will change. Part of that is coming next month as 3DS will be able to be tied to your same NNID. It just takes time to upgrade it all.

Yes, many games offer voice chat. Gamepad can connect to any headset and even a regular headphones and use the mic built in.

You can add up to 100 friends on your NNID. Very simply to do, even from people you casually play online.

Mk8 and smash have not come out yet, but they are confirmed to have heavy online. I'd wager they'll also have strong voice chat too.

How is this even possible?
I'm the total opposite, I would rather pay 400 or 500 dollars on a console with top notch hardware rather than $300 on something just to play a similar Mario game I could play on my current wii! Just my opinion tho, your opinion is perfectly fine

There's something wrong with wanting to buy the next gen console with all the top 4 highest scoring exclusive games?  Power does not equal good games.  After all the games Nintendo have revealed for the Wii U people still think its only worth getting for Mario?  I guess some people only see what they want to see.

Well, most people already said pretty much everything there is to say. But no one seems to have mentioned miiverse which is amazing. It is pretty much a gaming only version of Twitter. For me, miiverse has been my favorite feature of the wiiU since launch.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

It has the definitive version of all the multi-platform games.

Once U play a Wii U version of a game, U never go back.

Also for majority of the wiiU bundles out there, its still offering the deluxe promotion which means with ever purchase you make on the eshop, 10% = credit to buy games... 6 $60 game purchases = 1 free $60 game basically...

Looks like we have something in common, being that math isn't our best subject.

Outside of miiverse, it's still years behind PSN and XBL. If you're a really social gamer, only buy it for what the future brings to that front, not the current offerings.

However if you're buying a system for the future, PS4 makes a lot more sense if you can find one.

With that said, ignoring the online system the Wii U is right now the best place for gamers and it'll stay that way at least till late next year. I'd recommend picking on up now and getting a PS4 later once the communities have formed and it's received a price drop or two.

It's actually very social with Miiverse and Nintendo Chat. But not in the same way as PSN or LIVE. The online community is pretty great overall, but it certainly feels a little disconnected compared to what the others offer. That said, it has in game chat for some games and I'm sure Mario Kart and SSB will be fully-features online experiences.

@Luls

the Wiiu isn't very good at all if you was wanting a ps4 Xbox1 - only minimal titles and an awfully slow os.

after the first 3 months it wore off and just ended up using it as a tv browser

even netflix didn't work on it properly

my impressions are not good but it's your money at the end of the day

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
