Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo’s Kazunori Yamauchi on Forza: “We Always Respect Our Competition”

by David Rodriguez Nov 21st 2013 1:05PM 0

Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo franchise, was spotted recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and answered some questions regarding his thoughts on GT‘s biggest competitor, Forza, and the franchise’s future.

“We always respect our competition,” Mr. Yamauchi said in regards to Forza, “the racing genre isn’t really that big in its entirety, so I’m glad that everyone works hard to boost the genre as a whole.” When asked about Gran Turismo 7, Mr. Yamauchi was confident that the game could theoretically be ready as early as, “next year,” he explained, “in GT6 we really had to tune the software 100 per cent to maximise the PS3′s architecture, but of course the PS4′s hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it.”

Gran Turismo 6 is being developed by Polyphony Digital and will be published by Sony for the PlayStation 3 on December 6th, 2013.

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Good. Now perhaps they can learn from the competition and work a little on their engine sounds?

Man if GT7 is released holiday next year, I know when I'll buy a PS4 buuuuut, I think that won't happen, I say 2015 is the real best case scenario...and great that they respect their competition.

Turn 10 doesn't deserve such praise. They badmouth Polyphony digital every chance they get.

Doesn't matter, its all babble to get people interest in their game. Polyphony has always shown them respect to the best of my recollection. A couple E3's ago they even played Forza 4 in their booth. Polyphony just loves the racing genre as a whole and want to be around it.

It is easy to day that when you have a superior product

Ill take GT6 now and GT7 next year, that would be ideal actually.

With how the PS4s sales are shaping up They should get it out for Xmas 2014 to get the most sales as possible. Early 2015 at the latest
