Target is getting more than 10% less stock. Gamestop is getting enough to be noticed that it will have less too. Anything less than 10% would be tough to see. Now tell me where you expect MS to make ground up to pull them within 10%.

I second this. Our Target had 32 PS4's and has 28 Xbox One's which isn't a huge deal but our Gamestop had 115 PS4 pre-orders and only 85 Xbox One pre-orders. I'd be surprised if MS sells more than 750K.

no if microsoft ships towards regions like they did with the 360, they will be JUST shy of 900k for the total of north america

The article is wrong. It says PS4 sold 1.06 million in its first week in US, that is NA. It in fact sold ~960k first week in US. If Xbox One sells around 900k week one in US it has an outside shot of selling 1 million + in North America just like PS4 did. Not to mention Europe sales...

Xbox One never had the problems to be succesful in the USA - It will sell there no matter what.
The surprising thing was that the PS4 sold that great in the USA or NA in general.
In Europe Microsoft will lose big against Sony.
Sony did 1 Million in its weakest market on Day1 - Now Europe is next and we will go ham over the PS4.Expect even bigger numbers from us especially compared to the One Numbers.
Numbers the One won't reach as it looks like.There is the difference.
Sony conquered a territory they were on lost ground the last gen while they gained even more ground on the territory they were the strongest in.
1,2m WW 1st Week for Xbox One seems reasonable.
US+UK will push them to that.I can imagine the other countries won't be enough to push them to those 1,5m or even more WW.

Tablet and smartphone have definitely impacted the business (see Wii U and Vita completely decimated).
The PS4/XB1 are equipped to weather the storm because they are built for the living room experience -- that's the type of experience you want on a 50 inch screen, on your couch, with all the bells and whistles.
What's happening is the middle tier games and platforms that are trying to appeal to the middle/lower end are getting squeezed.
Consoles are for the big budget games that consumers want, tablets/smartphone gaming is still a part of their gaming diet too .... just with more of a focus on pick up and play/time wasting games that are cheap.

City and state so i can confirm those numbers. So far everything ive seen 24 was the highest in Chicago, Milwaukee and LA stores for Ps4. For X1 i only saw stores up to 16 in the same cities. Quickly checked NYC for 80+ because someone said their store had that many but didnt see anything close to that
