13-2 could have been great if they gave it a proper ending and not a stop gap game for Lightning Returns. I will still get the game because I always finish a series but not at a day 1 purchase. My $60 bucks is going to Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles because Baba and his Tales Studio deserves more support.

They will be getting my support... when we get the Tales games on Vita =(

As for buying Lightning Returns, cant see why I wouldnt as 13 and 13-2 are 2 of my favourite games of all time

I pretty much given up hope with Bamco when it comes to their handhelds. I mean they ported Tales of Rebirth on the PSP and we didn't get that either. Tales of Innocence and Hearts are originally on the DS, the hottest selling handheld ever and still nothing but since Baba and co. is localizing on the consoles, then I will support them because a lot of Japanese pubs right now ain't even thinking of localizing on anything. Yes, I'm looking at you Sega.

FFXIII was awesome and XIII-2 was very good, so why shouldn't I get it ?

Because it looks like a lot of fun... While both of the previous ones had issues, they had a lot of fun things, The art design, graphics and sound were top notch, and fun to play despite being way too restrictive. The the end of 13 was a good dungeon crawler. Whilst neither are my favorite JRPGs this gen (TWEWY, and trails in the sky are). I enjoyed those games a lot.

13-2 Had a lot of interesting mechanics. and I generally loved that game, but it had way too much recycling, too many ideas both good and bad,  and needlessly complicated silly story, when 13's plot was already finished.

X-2 had a really interesting structure, with its mission based system, and long quest threads not pertaining to the main one. It built the side characters a lot. A lot of the minor characters in X got arcs which built the world. It was filled with a lot of great mini games and a few bad ones, and the job system from a ff5 tied into the silly but fun dress mechanic. While the story was silly, it was nice seeing the world you saved Not in complete turmoil immediately. I will defend this game to my death :P

While I think the story will be a mess (though i admit, I find toriyamas stories fun to play despite having a lot of issues from a narrative standpoint). it will be a fun mess with pretty graphics, great soundtrack. Gameplay wise it seems to be taking after FFX-2 with a twist.

If you don't like it at all though, And you expect the story to magically get better, you shouldn't buy it. There's plenty of other Games you haven't played.

I agree. FF13 was just too much for me. I really dug into the game but I just couldn't take it anymore :'(

I will play it because i'd like to finish the story. At least if there is an end to it. Also I enjoyed 13-2 a little bit more than 13 so my guess is LR will be a little more enjoyable than 13-2 which would make it a more than decent game.
Although the dress up part means nothing to me.

It's funny though, seems like the people that enjoyed XIII/XIII-2 are getting more vocal. Seems like the love is still widespread and that should make them sell another 2.5 million units maybe...?

It doesn't look like that bad of a game, aside from the obvious fan service. Actually, the mechanics themselves seem pretty interesting.

But I'm not going to get burned this time like I did with XIII-2. Will wait till the price drops.

Because :
- I liked FFXIII
- I liked FFXIII-2
- I love Lightning
- LR has some kind of FFX-2 approach in its gameplay and I like that
- LR has some kind of FFXII approach in its progression system and I like that

To be fair, you should wait until the actual game comes out. A lot of previews have praised the new open world mechanics and say it's improved a lot.

Well because I love the final fantasy franchise,
Loved ff13 and ff13-2 the story was original and great, the visuals we're stunning as were the environments creative and I now want to complete the trilogy that's why!

LR is one of my most anticipated games for 2014. Really don't understand the hate for the 13 ff games.

Did you think everyone shared your opinion? I think not.

i didn't think so indeed. I just want to read some good arguments why you want to buy the game. For me 13 and 13-2 were disappointing. That's it, nothing more. If you liked the games, praise to you. No problem.
