lol PS4 140 million + PS Vita 40 million is where the real Domination is...

with the XBOX ONE targeting the same audience, games very similar, services pretty close to each other, and the fans really close to their companies with this "self-created" console war, that is a hard thing to do. At least 3DS is almost alone in the bussiness, while DS was with the PSP selling 80 millions and more units.

But PS4 is 100 dollars less expensives then XBox One people will buy an ps4 instead of the xboxone

Regardless of the price I see no end to Microsoft's grip on the Western audience, which in turn could bite Sony on the ass seeing as they forsake the Japanese market by appeasing to the Western audience and missing the critical Winter release in Japan.

Things that need to die in 2016: Defeatist attitudes of Nintendo fans

^Lol ok bud, 3DS will be higher than PS4, FACT.
WiiU will be higher than Vita, FACT.

I think Wii U could do 60 million at best, but no less than 30 million. The thing is, I don't understand the reason Wii U isn''t selling. Free online, quality titles, actual innovation, backwards compatible, and nothing behind a paywall! Yes, there's not good third party support, but what happened to the +30 million people who bought MarioKart Wii, or +10 million people who bought SSBB/ SMG?

Well, I think that's because of these things here:

A percentage of people think the Wii U is an add on to the Wii

The Advertising for the system has been so weak, some people don't know the Wii U exists

The lack of third party support(or when they do get multi-plats, it tends to be weaker) and the huge amount of delays on their games, with no must-have games is a real turn off

Microsoft and Sony's  internet may be behind a paywall, but they have the superior service, which warrants the price

Nintendo's censorship and poor handling of Online has been nothing but a deterrent to people who want Online

Sony and Microsoft had a generation to use Online, now people moving into the next Gen will want Sony/Microsoft's system, sense that's where their friends will be, and they're more used to that Online.

Their machine is weak, it's not God awful, but it's nothing impressive, and it's being outshadowed by PS4 and XBox One.

Nintendo has created an image, one they probably will never leave, and that image is: "Kids and Family" are our main focus, and no ammount of mature third party games is gone to solve this.

Hell, look at the recent Nintendo commercials, if you're not gaming with your family, and you're not a kid, these commercials are very offputting and make it seem like you're too old for Nintendo.

The Wii U has pathetic memory, it's 2013, 8GB's is a bad thing

Nintendo's making a lot of mistakes, coming into the next gen and then finding out they have no clue about HD is shocking.

Also, for budget gamers, Nintendo's hardware may be ideal, but their software usually isn't.  Nintendo games tend to hold their full price, years after release, for those who have to rely on time lowering the prices or buying games used, due to budget issues, in the long run, Sony/Microsoft are much better then Nintendo.(Especially when games on Sony/Microsoft's consoles get re-released for lower prices)

The majority of Wii owners were casual gamers and Nintendo fans.

Nintendo fans are already here by now, but the casuals don't see any reason to upgrade from the Wii, especially now that they can game on their phones.

Let's face it, Nintendo really got hooked on the success of the Wii(targeting casual/non-gamers), but the Wii U cannot do that.

It's too expensive and doesn't have a way of beating phones/the original Wii.

So, Nintendo's left with Nintendo fans, and they can only hold up the Wii U for so long, while the other market left for Sony/Microsoft, and the market Nintendo's focused on, barely gives a damn, or thinks the Wii U is a 300$ add on.

This thread....

Console Wars are flaring, people are stating opinions as facts, blind faith running rampant.  For all sides......

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 3DS is going to sell over 80mil easy, guess your in denial

I really love my WiiU, but I sincerely think that Nintendo already lost this generation

Of course, assuming that there is somewhat of a race in the industry, which we all know it´s not true. Nintendo doesn´t need to be number 1 to be a profitable and trustful company

If WiiU can pull similar lifetime sales numbers as the Gamecube, something around 30 million, then Nintendo will be just fine. What really matters is how profitable is the product.

As for the 3ds, I don´t see anything matching it for the upcoming two or three years. It will sure pull 100 million units in its lifetime, specially with the cheap 2DS in the market right now and the tsunami of great games coming next year.

There´s a lot of stuff, I do agreee with some points, but others are questionable.

Lack of third party support doesn´t seem to be a huge deal for Nintendo, They never had real good 3rd party support since the N64 days and still consoles like the Ds, Wii and 3Ds sold a lot. I believe the lack of its main franchises and lack of good partnerships is what really hurts the console right now. If they pull out their games, the console will sell enough.

The memory of the WiiU isn´t an issue, also, because it can be easily upgraded with a cheap external HD

Pricing also doesn´t seem to be a problem, it´s currently the cheapest  device of this new generation, and the only one bundled with games. I do agree that they should lower the prices of their games after some months in the market, but they don´t do that because their games have looooooong legs

As for the casuals, they´re not just flocking away from the Wii, they flocking away from every console, from Kinect, from Move, from dancing and music games. The marketing is becoming more and more niche, and Nintendo doesn´t seem to have what is necessary to get a good deal of this niche.

As for the other points, I agree with you

I guess if you put FACT in capitals then it must be so!

Since kumagawa's rock-solid argument wasn't enough to sway me from my earlier predictions, I'll repost them here:

WiiU - 50
PS4 - 90
XBox One - 50

3DS - 118.69
Vita - 20

I really don't see any console matching it's predecessors. The market will decline. I'd give PS4 the best chance though, because I think that'll be the obvious winner in home-console arena.

Still, I think it'll fall short of an around 95m ending PS3. I think XBox will have a fairly big decline, it's brand has been damaged and it has all the disadvantages. WiiU and Xbox One will fight for second place, it could go either way, but I hope (and expect) WiiU to just edge it out. That means that I see a fairly big turnaround for WiiU next year, yes. Starting with Super Mario 3D World. Vita is pretty much done for. Nothing really worked, the games that were going to 'save' it didn't do so by a long shot and now all the bullets have been fired. The redesign and price cut raised it's base-line, but it's still bad. VitaTV or whatever it's called won't do a single thing for it. 3DS will be the obvious winner of the 8th gen overall, it will end at GameBoy numbers.

So I guess, with (50+118.69)>(90+20) I agree with your statement somewhat, but it'll be primarily because of 3DS's ability to dominate heavily, WiiU won't stand a chance. Too bad for Nintendo winning the home-console arena is always considered more 'prestigious'.
