I was thinking that a mod can't flame... How wrong I was :D

don't expect the mods to always be neutral all the time - theyhave their own tastes too

Everyone has their tastes. But I think that this kind of flaming (or flaming bait) is not compatible with a mod. I'm not talking specially about this case, but in general. If he wants to talk about his opinion, just talk, without irony and these kind of things.

Grand Theft Auto has quirky sidequests? Where?

No More heroes is basically a Hack N' Slash with Minigames.

Also Dynasty Warriors does have an economy system. (in some modes)

Many dynasty warriors games also do have quirky minigames.

Would Halo not be a FPS if after every stage you had to play a minigame to power up your guns? (Half of which involved shooting people in FPS mode.)

Also i'd guess 100K was already around double their expectations. I mean, do some research on Suda 51 games.

I don't know if one would consider them quirky, but there are many, many sidequests in GTA like Taxi Driving, EMT, Firefighting, Cops & Robbers, and so on and so forth. Saints Row upped it with real quirky ones like the whole insurance fraud aspect of the game.
NMH is still open ended, sandbox and so-forth, even if it does include strong hack-n-slash elements. So the GTA comparisons are certainly there. Was I kind of off in saying it's a GTA knock-off? Yes, a bit. But there are strong comparisons between the 2. Which is my reasoning as to why I question exactly why some think 100k is good - a similar title on the X360 would of most likely sold 100,000 first week in the US.

Stop grasping at straws this is making you look like a fool. It is pretty clear you have not played the game. Why do you feel threatened by some game you have not played? Add or Remove all the following features from GTA and tell me if it is the same game:

protagonist is a nerd whose hobbies are watching anime and playing video games
only one vehicle avaible to drive and you can not steal or hijack cars
you can only use your bike to go from point A to B (no races, chases, challenges save for 2 small sections in the game)
no cops
city map is smaller than any map in any GTA game
no more than 1 kind of store/building (gym, job center, ATM machine)
you can not hurt or kill civilians (or anyone else while in the city)
all sidequests are combat based (kill x enemies in y time while doing/avoiding z)
no guns avaible and only 4 types of laser swords (can only carry one at a time)
the meat of the game are the boss battles (all enemies are cannon fodder)

Your open end world argument is wrong. One could exchange the whole city of Santa destroy for a menu to select missions and buildings. The only aspect affected would be the card and lokikov balls collection. Can you remove the the full city map from GTA and state that the core gameplay is unnafected?
Saying that this game would do better on the  360 is nothing more than speculation. If a high budget game from a popular genre like Blue Dragon had lousy sales, why would a niche low budget game do 100k in one week? Killer 7, considering your definition, would have sold much more because it is a adventure/action hybrid, not a niche title. Say whatever you want this is the best selling Suda51 game ever.

Wait. You find some cards in the overworld? That would explain how i missed one during the unbelievable linear levels.

I'm convinced the only reason that the overworld is there is to trick people into thinking the game is open world. Since when he was making Killer 7 he found those were the kinds of games westerners buy.

I think the lightsaber on the front will help people in NA want to buy it. They wil see the lightsaber and pick it up and read the back... You never know red stell sold 1 mil just because people knew it had swordplay in it...

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

2nd playthrough only. The only things you can find in the overworld are:

Lokikov balls
money (pretty useless, you waste 5 minutes looking for the exact spot and get 1k)
cards 2nd playthrough onwards (they are concept art, not the crappy masks)
T-shirts (kicking some trash cans)

The point is, you could make all these items avaible thru missions or for sale and the gameplay would not be affected (it would be more entertaining IMO).

Given that this game is an homage/spoofto other video games, I think the overworld is simply paying tribute to GTA and the sandbox genre.

Yakuza got labeled as a Gta clone as well, when its not at all. So I feel you pain. Actually I will be getting NMH so I can be apart of it as well.

Thanks for the info, I thought the Lokikov Balls were the only thing to find on the overworld. I have already beaten the game so I will be on the look out for trading cards in the overworld now.

I still don't see why we should be happy over 100k. I'm expecting 1m units sold for this game worldwide. Let's face it, this is not the PSP we're talking about. The Nintendo Wii is the fastets selling console of all-time, it has a great attach rate, and it's the market leader. A great game should be able to do 100k with it's eye's closed on the Wii.

Killer7, his last game like this, sold only a few thousand copies on the PS2 when it had 3X the userbase of the Wii right now.

100,000 for him is a pretty big deal.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Your controller vibrates as you get closer to the spot. ;)

Yes, a very, VERY sick duck with little chance of making it.
