I am fully aware of that. You are aware that P4G was released on a Vita, a "next gen" handheld right, therefore not something that would change that verdict right? And no, I haven't taken stuff like that as my argument, torillian asked for it and I showed him. I never said that because I think it's the best RPG of the gen everyone else should think so too. That's something you are making up.

They said best of the past generation a year and a half ago, you can't give retroactive credit to make that mean the best overall in the past 8 years.  I'll give you six and a half years, which is closer to 5.  

And that's fine to make quality assessments of your own, but don't make claims about what "media" has said and then be unwilling to back it up.  Just say it's your favorite of the past gen, or of all time for that matter.  THat's a perfectly reasonable claim, but don't deflect arguments by saying "well I didn't say that, the media did" and be unwilling to actually prove it.

He says the best game of the past 5 years.  I don't have to tell you that's not a decade, right?  And this is a review before the game with the better metacritic was released.  

Cbarros keeps falling back on "Media said it not me" so I'm curious to see if he has an example of media making his exact claim.

P4G was release in the same year as Xenoblade, shouldn't that make both games "the same gen" since Vita and WII where around at the same time before the Wii U was around? And seriously ... isn't that a really stupid discussion? "Oh no, this game is next gen, not this gen. Same year, bot different gen, so totally diffent."

And if someone states his thesis as his own opinion right away and not some definitve fact thats better anyway. Because there are probably more than enough people who didn't like either P4G or Xenoblade, even if they're jRPG fans.

I think he actually meant the thread starter, just like me with my point about "own opinion". I mean your clearly stating your position as your own opinion and not as a fact because someone on the internet posted it. That's fine by me. Just because the media says a game is the best doesn't mean its the best (especially if Metacritic ridicules this statement). I mean normally no one really cares about these score, why bother now?

Anyway, if the game delivers it obviously is a strong point for getting a Wii U, especially if the price drops even further - still to high for me right now with the games I'm interested in. But there can never be enough good RPGs to play.

The vita is an 8th gen handheld, therefore the games coming out on it are 8th gen games. The Wii is an 7th gen console, therefore the games coming out on it are 7th gen games. Years have nothing to do with it.

Yes I realize you didn't say it, but you came into this thread defending his claim for him so I'm going to be adressing that claim.  You not saying it isn't that important since that claim is the basis of this whole thread.
