Forums - Sony - Should Ken Kutaragi have designed the PS4 instead of Cerny?

    With all the reports of people having bricked PS4’s yesterday and today I wonder if the “great mind” of Mark Cerny has failed Sony from an engineering perspective. Yes, he made the system easier to develop for but what good is that if the system doesn’t work?

I just finished reading Andrea Rene’s twitter (works with Escapist magazine) and her brand new PS4 was bricked right out of the box. I just can’t fathom how Sony could have messed this up. I mean, I know there were rumors of forced student labor in China with manufacturing PS4’s and these news stories seem more credible with each passing hour of complaints.

I’m glad I decided to wait on next gen and will purchase this system sometime in late in 2014. So, back to the title of this thread, do you think Kutaragi could have designed this system better then Cerny?  I know Kutaragi is retired and all but hypothetically speaking I seriously believe he could of did better with this system. Sure his ways were crazy but at least when he designed the PS3 it was reliable.

What do you think? Did Cerny buckle under the pressure and fail to live up to his hype delivering message from Feb 22nd?

No one is perfect.

Nothing to see here folks.

The PS5 Exists.

No. We would have need three jobs to afford a PS4.

You needed to sell a kidney on the black market to afford the PS3.

You'd need to sell your heart on the black market to afford the PS4.

So its actually true then? I thought it was either a few people throwing ps4's into walls while it was installing the update or people were trolling but I guess it really is true... Oh well, every console launches have issues and this one has no exception... Although being bricked right out of the box is pretty bad... Maybe worse then the Xbox 360's RROD or the wiiU being bricked while losing connection during updates cause people have terriable and cheap wifi routers

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Architecture is ok, it's the engennering that's no good.

Cerny has nothing to do with it.

It's not true, just most PlayStation guys are busy playing so the FUD is spreading fast.

You can't say there's not a problem with it yet, we just don't know % of working to non working atm.

First.. We should all blame amazon for bad shipping.. If that doesn't work we should blame Foxconn for bad assembeling.. After that we blame MS for using super magnetic beams to disrupt the PS4.. But we will never blame Sony.. Never

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
