Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto Says Super Mario 3D World Doesn’t Mean The End Of Super Mario Galaxy

Legendary Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that Nintendo releasing Super Mario 3D World, doesn’t mark the end of the Mario Galaxy style games.

“Just so there is no misunderstanding, I should point out that this doesn’t mean we’ll never make another Super Mario Galaxy game.”

Fellow EAD producer Koizumi chimed in as well.

“That’s right. When we first started making Super Mario 3D World, Miyamoto-san asked me if this was going to be more like Super Mario Galaxy or more like Super Mario 3D Land. When we made Super Mario 3D Land, we had our eyes on the form of this game, so we made it this way without any hesitation.”

Miyamoto added that they can’t just bring in anybody to make a Galaxy style game at the same time.

“The same team can’t make both at the same time. And we can’t bring in a second party and slap the name Super Mario Galaxy on it. I suppose we could idealistically make both in Tokyo, but we want to do something new too, so there was that dilemma.”

So next the 3D Mario is Galaxy 3 confirmed? I'd be fine with that, but I say it should probably be the last one.

Hopefully I don't have to wait until the next Nintendo console to see Mario Galaxy 3.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

From the sounds of that they haven't even started on it and we probably won't get it for 3-4 years, but they might make sunshine HD to tie ppl over.

I don' care really. As long as they keep bringing the good stuff I'll be content - Galaxy or not. 3D world looks good, despite what some are saying. With that said, I could wait for Galaxy 3. No rush ...

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I hope Galaxy 3 is the last one. It was fun while it lasted, time to move on.

Super Mario Universe confirmed!

The Wii-U is the first Nintendo console I haven't owned and I really bums me out. I just can't live with such horrible third party support so, hopefully they release a powerful console with a standard controller next gen so I can come back to the Mushroom Kingdom.

How about SMG3 as a launch title?

are you saying the N64, GC and Wii had great third party support?

No, but they had better support. You could play sports titles, THPS, RE...even Metal Gear Solid lol. It wasn't a good as what we got on Sony's end, but a million leagues better than Wii-U. I mean, you know it's bad when a console doesn't get Madden.

I MAY get a Wii-U down the road when my finace graduates college and we have alot of money, but if it's like a year or two away from a new console? I'd rather just get Nintendo's next offering instead and not have to scramble to catch up on 3 or 4 years worth of games.
