Forums - Nintendo - Pachter to Nintendo fans, “Put your money where your mouth is and buy a Wii U”

We have seen with Gamecube sales that there just isn't the numbers anymore of dedicated Nintendo fans. Casuals elevated them above the rest with Wii, but now they are on their own again.

Even if they do all buy one.....your looking at 20 million tops.

He makes no sense.

Every gen has shown solid growth in total consoles sold.

PS2/Xb/Gc was around 200m total.
Wii/PS3/X360 will end around 280m total.

This gen should be over 300m easily and none of that is counting portables.

I did that about 2 weeks ago! :D

And if Pachter says that we must kill Obama, because he is an reptilian humanoid, you would also do it, right?

How is that even possible?  There was such growth this generation because of the Wii and a host of casual gamers.  If you consider that audience now has multiple avenues to play games on like tablets and smartphones, and thus, will not be coming back to the dedicated console sphere, how do you possibly predict growth?  Wii U isn't going anywhere.  You honestly expect the XBO and PS4 to sell 270-280M combined?  Lol there is absolutely no way.

And this is not even considering Japan's declining interest in consoles...

Well if as many bought a 3ds as they bought a wiiu, this wouldnt even be a topic.

Make a prediction and put your job on the line.

EDIT: Oh, and here's my personal projections for the current and eighth generations, compared to previous generations:

The projection would look so much better with a bit of violet. Let's hope.

You really think so? If the Wii U heads where it appears to be headed, the One and the PS4 would need to sell close to PS2 numbers each, or one of them far above. Or, the Wii U and both others sell about 100 million each. All those scenarios seem extremely unlikely.

The 8th gen will shrink from the 7th, in my opinion. Another historical first in home console markets.

Idk about u guys but I dont buy a console until there is a healthy selection of games I really want and cant get on my current systems. Most people seem to agree that the main reason to own Nintendo consoles is to play Nintendo games so why would the majority of Nintendo fans buy Wii U when basically every major Nintendo franchise has yet to release?

Up to this point the only big hitting Nintendo franchise to appear on Wii U is 2D Mario and a few smaller ones like Pikmin 3 and Wind Waker HD (a niche series and a remake) so really there hasnt been much reason to own a Wii U yet even for hardcore Nintendo fans.

Next week has 3D Mario, February has Donkey Kong, Mario Kart in the Spring and Smash Bros is rumored for May so in the next 6 months the number of system selling Nintendo franchises will increase drastically and Zelda is possible for holiday 2014 and X, Bayonetta, Yarn Yoshi can help fill out the second half of 2014 as well.

The same goes for casual gamers as there hasnt been much incentive for them to upgrade from Wii/Kinect yet. At launch they had 2D Mario/Nintendo Land and Game & Wario in June. This holiday has Wii Party/Fit/Sports Club, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Mario 3D World and Just Dance/Skylanders are being bundled to help move those fans over. Next year has games DKC, Smash, Kart, Yoshi which appeal to both casuals and core Nintendo fans.

If this holiday and next year still dont see Nintendo fans and casuals buying a Wii U then its alright to call out people for not buying one but until there is a strong selection of games that appeal to those crowds there is no reason to buy a Wii U.
