To be fair they are saying that Activision showed the 1080p version at the event but the video capture was 720p... weird.

better aliasing and shading. It's not such a conundrum.

I could lay blame on all three companies if I wanted to, but in this instance, MS was the one who got it because you were bitching about rushed IP and it was the original Xbox that allowed for that to happen. If you have a counter argument, I'd love to hear it instead of insults and dodging tactics. |
Having HDD doesn´t "allow" for anything to happen. Having developers that can´t do their job is the reason. Using MS as the one to blame removes too much focus from those that are to blame.
If someone uses a car to run into a store, do you blame car manufacturers for allowing cars to be used in that manner or do you actually blame the driver?
This is the reason why I find these arguments so tiresome, since some people just can´t seem to accept that MS is a great developer that has contributed to the industry in a lot of positive ways, just as Nintendo and Sony.

The problem is both are native 720p in all of the footage out there. The whole reason people noticed both were the same resolution was because they had identical aliasing.
Screenshot comparison of 720p uspcaled VS 1080p.
Even with low res textures (that's why some people may not notice diff if TV not 1080 native or if they are far from screen), the clarity of 1080p native is stricking vs 720p upscaled you can clearly see better at long distance, perfect for long shots and the trees are so much defined no blurry mess etc.
Advice, try on a real 1080p native screen for better effect. Those are pure png screenshots with very low compression (almost 4MB each image at last!).

EDIT: It's not from COD PS4 game.
Ignore if already in 720p.
TheSixthAxis posted a article confirming that their video comparison was running in 720p for single-played and posted two separated video for the MP on both consoles.

That's not entirely correct. I saw lots of shots of towers and wires that looked significantly better on ps4.
And the reason people noticed they were the same resolution was because they did pixel counts. Aliasing is separate from resolution.

I will make some MP picture from the new videos... the MP part was running in 1080p... from what I saw Xbone is blurry in comparison with a more sharper image on PS4 and way less aliasing.

Good on you. I just wanted to point out that SP shots from both 720 versions looked better to viewers because of better lighting, contrast, and anti-aliasing. The difference was noticeable. They were not the same. People who saw a difference weren't biased, and same resolution doesn't confirm that, it only confirms that ps4 has better shaders and AA.
