Just wanted to mention, Kotaku also had to have a replacement PS4 shipped to them, though the problem was with a faulty HDMI port on their console.

Hmm, hopefully whatever it is will be a rare issue. It sucks, because obviously day one buyers (or winners) are so excited to play with their new system...you really hate to have things like this happen.

But it does happen unfortunately. All you can hope for really is that problems are kept to a minimum

Apparently average fail rates is 3-6% on electronic items. We've had 3 or 4 from 4,000 (assuming they have all shipped). So well within that % range.

Nothing to see here (yet).... move on (for now).

If people are expecting no hardware problems, then that is more surprising.

at this early in the game i would imagine sony would just ship a new console so they could have the time to properly evaluate the problem ones.

Wow, talk about both kinds of luck! First, lucky enough to Win a FREE PS4! Then unlucky enough that it fails.

Hopefully this is just isolated. Always a few fail, it's why when gardening you plant more than one seed .

Why are these guys getting early console trying to update their system before launch day? I think they are just asking for trouble and shouldn't be reporting having issues.

The update is live that is why.  It isnt their fault that their PS4 is having issues
