Forums - Gaming - How long will 720P be sufficient for console gaming?

How long is 720P good for?

Last gen (PS360) 69 42.33%

This gen (PS4/XBO/U) 71 43.56%

Next Gen (PS5, XBO2, U2) 23 14.11%

Total:163

Because judging by this forum the past few days, people, shockingly, can't see the difference between 720P and 1080P, and games still look beautiful in 720P in their eyes.

So to those people, how long do will 720P be enough for your standards? I mean 4K tvs are about to become the standard this gen, would you care if 720P was the standard for next gen after the upcoming's as well?

Just out of curiousity

Forever, the human eye can´t see any diference beyond 720p, 24FPS and 256 colors. Video game technology has been maxed out already its a fact.

I can tell the difference but its far from being unbearable,a locked frame rate is king though.(Im looking at you Dead Rising 3)

Some folks were boasting how a game that ran at 720p was the best they've ever seen, now they want to spit on that resolution.

I'm definitely in the minority, but I wouldn't mind if 720p was the standard for this generation and the next. I just don't think resolution is holding anyone back from making a great game.

I guess Nintendo games are awful.

Give back that near perfect score for Ocarina, Nints.

You won't get it until you put a 1080p lipstick on it.

Until 4K becomes a household thing which will take forever

I've been wanting 1080p for the past few years. I would be really upset if games were still 720p on PS4... Luckily none of them are.

I doubt 4k is going to be a standard for a while. Too expensive for people and not much of a need for most people to upgrade yet.

Not even going to bother with your question with the most talked about subject in the last month.  Go to every other resolution thread. This topic has been outdone by this point.

You know the same thing happened with 480p right?  Its called progress.
