I would want them to explore the possibility of a partnership, except not with EA this time.

That's the more likely scenario...
It is near the end of the end....
1) Cater to 3rd Parties
2) Easy to develop for
3) Less forced gimmicks

This. Then again, that is what they give us each generation including the wiiU. So really, I hope they do the usual :).
Predictions for LT console sales:
PS4: 120M
XB1: 70M
WiiU: 14M
3DS: 60M
Vita: 13M

Exactly. There's a reason Nintendo still has my business.

As far as i am concerned there is no such thing as a Nintendo gimmick.
Sony and Microsoft have gimmicks e.g. DVD/Bluray support in a game console. Thats irrelevant for any game. Neither Move Kinect or the Wii Balance board are gimmicks. And stuff that is there day1 is especially not a gimmick.
I mean if 2 Screens, Motion, 3D, or a tablet controller are a gimmick so are a DPAD, select+start, 4 action buttons, shoulder buttons, rumble, analog sticks, and being able to save your progress (Zelda NES battery = "memory card").
How come noone says those are gimmicks? Because they were invented in a time were real developers made games for real gamers and not mainstream devs making mainstream games for wanabe gamers (mainstreamers). Innovation was accepted and thank god copied. Today change is not cool and only "cool" people play games today therefore change only occurs outside the mainstream market.
Btw what game makes you lose your focus? Its not that you are forced to look at a gamepad that is glued to your floor or anything. You can always pause the game. You can also move your hands into your view so there is no need to move your eyes at all. (people constantly watch TV and play handhelds at the same time or walk around while using their smartphone so why would the gamepad be a problem?)

But the third party that really matters are the exclusives (ie: Ni No Kuni), not cross plataforms that are going to be better at the PC anyway (CoD, AC). If they are exclusives, then the power means nothing in the end, since it can only be played on that one console. Just a thought. I will think about the OP question a little more. |
I'm not saying power automatically equals third party support, but it definitely wouldn't hurt it either. I love Nintendo and the uniqueness they represent. I've been team Nintendo since 1985, and understand what they bring to the table. I think they would be able to get more third party exclusives if power wasn't an issue.
"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."
Shigeru Miyamoto
I completely agree with a lot of that! Nintendo's next system should at least be on par with Sony and Microsofts next systems. Even if they use use the extra power, the third parties will find a use for it. One more thing, do not add "Wii" in the name.
I want VR with full motion controls though I would love this on WiiU as it is fully capable of doing this right now
