Bungie is a 3rd party Developer now i don't Understand how it's Megaton that their game is coming to Playstation when it's multiplatform lol

So you're saying if Naughty Dog turned third party tomorrow and brought The Last of Us 2 to the Xbone, that wouldn't be anything unexpected?

The big difference is that Destiny is an new IP and the Last of Us isn't we all knew that there next game was going to be Multiplat when Activision became their publisher.

WRONG. Did you even read this thread?

Many ppl thought MS would have 1 year timed-exclusive rights to DESTINY... and the Xbox fans were talking about how HUGE that would be for the next gen Xbox.

Look at this thread from 2012 when all the Xbox fans thought Destiny would be timed exclusive on Xbox and are talking about how its a big Win for MS to have it associated with their brand.

Now that it turned out the game is multiplat and PS4 has exclusive marketing rights and DLC... the xbox fans are trying to downplay it. It's actually quite comical.

funny how espadagrim still hasnt replied to this.

Around the Network

Listen, It is a Pretty big deal, because as we have seen If there was no Halo there would be no XB 360 nor would there be an XB one. Halo is the Only Reason MS had any kind of real Success with the original Xbox and if you do not see that then you are truly blind. And since the Creators of Halo (The biggest franchise Xbox has) are making a Game on a Competing Platform (even if it will be on there original platform) then we should realize that Is a huge deal of "Megaton" proportions, to me it would be like if NaughtyDog went or Polyphony Digital went MultiPlat as those companies have made Sony and their consoles.

It's pretty funny when people antagonize any responses that don't fit into a particularly narrow expectation, after asking a question that is constructed to invite responses from people with a variety of opinions. Anyway...

If a megaton has to be extremely unexpected then I can't see how Destiny's multiplatform announcement fits that definition. A megaton can't just be unexpected; it has to be so extremely unexpected that when people hear about it, they don't actually believe it immediately. It takes a while for their brains to process what they just heard. Sure, many people predicted that it would be timed exclusive for the Xbone, but with Bungie's departure from Microsoft to Activision and the decrease in third-party exclusives, it certainly wasn't unfathomable in people's minds for it to launch concurrently on the PS4 instead.

For the most part, there was only flimsy rumors (let's not forget opposing rumors as well) and Microsoft's history to suggest that Destiny would be timed exclusive. However, there was no reason to believe that it was extremely unlikely for the opposite to occur. I think for most people, Destiny's concurrent release on the PS4 was certainly a realistic possibility, albeit for some it may have been the less probable of the two possibilities. That's certainly not enough to quantify a Megaton. When a megaton is announced, people say "Oh shit!" When Destiny was announced for the PS4, people said "Oh, that's interesting."
