27. Super Mario Galaxy

With Mario blasting off into space it was fair to wonder if they've finally stretched things a little thin but the result was wonderful.  The solid platforming experiences of Mario continued and there were plenty of levels to keep you busy, happy, frustrated, and coming back for more.  The jump to space means the addition of selectively working gravity, but since it is consistent in its behavior and a lot of fun, the lack of realism does nothing to hurt the game.  The powerups in the game were well crafted and used as a requirement rather than an aid.  Aside from the bee powerup I found the rest to be fun to play with and having a lot to add to the gameplay.  The levels were good and the goals in each would tend to vary from standard platforming to more minigame type levels (perhaps this is my frustration with the rolling ball speaking out).  Add in the prankster comments which force you to repeat a level with no conditions thrown in and you get another layer of depth.  After beating the game you can play as Luigi who slides around a little more.  In many ways Luigi's gameplay feels like what I wanted the whole game to be.  Truly, I had fun in this game just from the chances to use planet gravity to hop around.

26. Chrono Trigger (7)

Time travel can be a tough thing to get right, and Chrono Trigger includes time travel nearly as well as any game I've ever played.  The time travel is mostly story based but allows you to find extra items and explored the same world map in many ways.  Your party of characters feels more alive because of the myriad of backgrounds created throughout different eras.  Removing random encounters and allowing you to see your enemies on the world map also made the game more immersive.  The game is designed such that each era actually feels like its own game, even yough you know you are working toward a bigger goal.  The equipment in this game is better for the lead up and loreplaced behind it. Techs added a light spacial element to battle, and more importantly multiple characters can combine to use more powerful attacks.  The story and exploration in this game are fantastic and kept me eagerly awaiting what would happen within the next hour.  This game lacked the long grinds attributable to most RPGs and made the battles far more interesting.

25. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (38)

The size of this gameboy game is immense, filled with sidequests in addition to the eight dungeons.  The ability to use multiple items at the same time gives the items a wider variety of uses and allows for a completely new set of puzzles by pairing items in creative ways.  The most influential item, roc's feather is obtained in the first dungeon and is integral to the gameplay.  The combat benefits greatly from the ability to jump and keeps battles moving quickly with otherwise undodgeable attacks.  The clever dialog, characters, and easter eggs thrown in add a wonderful feel to the world of Koholint and its foreboding Wind Fish, waiting for you at the end of the game.

24. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (NR)

For a while I wasn't sure I would end up getting to play this game but thankfully that changed.  I thoroughly enjoyed my travels into the world of one of the most contrived Rube Goldberg machines in video game history.  The details revealed in this origin story still leave room for events before the game but explain nicely the struggles seen in so many of the series' earlier games.  The directional swordplay was fun, if sometimes frustrating and created some interesting boss fights.  The combination of the story, dungeons, and the boss fights are the main quality in this title.  The items were average but used to good effect with the dual clawshots and gust bellows being the diamonds in the rough for puzzle solving.

You have been excellent at guessing my clues, man.  Correct on both.

28 - Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

Rayman 3 was the 2nd Rayman game I played, after Rayman 2. This game has very wonderful level design, it fits the art of the game very good and the controlls were also good. Why this game is so high on here is because the game is just another wonderful 3D platformer in the generation where 3D platformers was just thrown out everywhere. So the genre became my favorite and this game just stood in front of other games for me. I just wish we would get a Rayman 4 and not more 2D Raymans :(

I want to say 27 is Shadow of the Colossus but that's silly.

25: Not Link to the Past, Link's Awakening or Oracle of Ages. Oracle of Seasons? Or Minish Cap if we're going for Gameboy games.

27 is incorrect and you're right on 25. It's Seasons.
