FYI it's 11pm on a Sunday, so people aren't exactly quick to respond to work email. I wanted to check in before I shut-down for the evening. This is what I believe is going on:We still have two more weeks before launch - the console is in a pre-release state. We are doing regular updates - I personally took one a few minutes before he posted. His build is now old. This is why we were saying we didn't want people on early - it's not done yet. This behavior is only because we are in pre-release. When we launch, console will work exactly as you expect today on 360. For sure this has nothing to do with requiring a connection. There is no "DRM removal" in the Day One update because none of the consoles were ever built with that stuff in it. This also has nothing to do with COD. The Day One update just brings the SW up to date with the latest versions vs. what's on the box. But there is no 24 check in, that's for sure.ccording to albert

So nothing to worry about

What the hell? The doesn't make any sense?

Or is he just lying/damage control? He is saying there never was any DRM on the system!!

Why would there be drm on it when it was scrapped awhile ago.

Because it was confirmed by Major Nelson that a patch was needed to remove the DRM. And to quote him from E3, "It's built in the system, you can't just flip a switch". The concensus on GAF is that the console ban has nothing to do with him not being able to play the game offline, considering that there's no way Microsoft could control his system when he's offline. They are saying that the 500mb patch he downloaded was not the DRM removing patch, so he has to deal with the 24 hour check in tht was built into the system. This falls in line with CBOAT's statement that the DRM removing patch might not be finished in time.

That would be a PR nightmare for the company if people got the console 2 weeks from now and they couldn't play offline after the first 24 hours pass. Can you imagine what kind of negative attention to the console something like this could bring?

It would be interesting. I wonder if the people that made the switch from Xbox to PS at E3 and then went back after Xbox's 180 would still be outraged? I reckon that most people would accept it- despite the uproar that those same people gave the system back then. We are 18 days from launch though, so anything is possible at this point.

"There is no "DRM removal" in the Day One update because none of the consoles were ever built with that stuff in it."

This part directly contradicts EVERYTHING we've been told by Major Nelson about DRM. Whats the truth at this point?

Did you only read the OP? Someone here already brought that up.

That guy has lied numerous times lately. He said they never had a chance at a reasonable conversation about DRM. Said he wasnt allowed to know CoD resolution. That guy is the biggest tool MS has right now.

Yeah I did, that response pretty much kills it dead. If you wanna look into it further you're wasting your time as Nov 22nd will prove again.

Even with this denial, its still pretty shocking that 2 weeks from launch its not ready, there is still news here that they are cutting it damn close.

Another example of the people that have no interest in ever buying the XB1 trying to read into information and rush to make the console look bad. The guy is obviously using a console in a pre-release state. It's not a failure on M$'s part that the systems is being used before it is released.

It is near the end of the end....

Well join this thread 12 days from now then and tell us what you've find.

In the mean time we'll just have to discuss this without your contribution i guess. Thanks for stopping by.
