Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo could be forced to discontinue the Wii U next year?

This is the problem with gaming journalism nowadays. People are actually discussing some wild conclusion a fool with a blog has. Does this guy even post on this website?

Does he actually think Iwata is sitting there thinking: "Oh, well Wii U hasn't sold well after launching Pikmin and a 2D Mario game. I guess it is time to call it quits! Our huge Zelda 2015 project? Mario Galaxy 3? Xenogears? Kirby? Smash Brothers? mario Kart 8?" Oh, well they are coming out to late! Cancel them all! Along with any plans for Metroid, Lylatt Wars, Donkey Kong Country, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Pokemon games, more Wii Sports titles, and everything else we usually launch."

The 360 was losing 150$ on each 360 sold.
The PS3 was losing 300$ on each PS3 sold.
The Xbox Division has done nothing but lose money since the first and stock holders want the division gone.
The PS3 has effectively destroyed all profits made from the PS1, PS2 and then some, the company is the most likely to drop out at this point do the company being unstable.
If those two can literally continue for god knows why even though they have done nothing but lose money, I am sure Nintendo will be fine.
They've been doing this since 1889, I think they know what they're doing, they turned the 3DS disaster to a money printer, and the Wii U will pull through.

Oh yeah forgot Fool.com also said gamers would embrace Xbox One's DRM and other policies. So we can assume they're called 'fool ' for a reason.

I think they'll be ok, you don't have to sell 100 million to be successful. They probably expected much better profits, but having a terrible first party release schedule will do that. Can't do that when your third party situation is perennially terrible.

Nintendo should ditch the Wiiu

release another console with a standard controller and increase specs

Yeah, let's abandon a system we invested millions in developing, and which we have a huge backlog of software in the pipeline for, so we can burn our fans and start again from scratch with a new, expensive sytem that nobody will buy for fear that we'll once again pull the plug.

That's a recipe for bankruptcy.

Yeah, that's my thoughts too. I thought Nintendo was going to come out fists up and swinging after 3DS failed to do well without strong first party support during its launch year. Nintendo should know its audience a little better by this point, and the truth is, we really mostly want Nintendo games! It's November already, and so far all they've given us is Pikmin, PIKMIN! Along with a small handful of remakes and expansions. Do they not realize how insane that release schedule is?

I think they should do it because Salnax would get more games for his 3DS. Wii U owners can go self mutilate themselves and quit playing video games.

I agree with your sarcasm,

Skeeuk, that's dirty Sega talk!

Why does this always have to be debunked. Xbox has made money over the last SIX years. And Playstation has made some profit in recent years.

I hate myself for saying this, but part of me hopes this happens.

Imagine the 3DS with Nintendo's full weight behind it.

Best gaming machine ever.

If that were to happen I would never buy another Nintendo product ever again. You have to realize people spent money on the Wii U.

You got issues...........is what I'm going to say to that.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."
