Forums - Gaming - PlayStation 4 Vs Xbox One: Why The Most Talked About Console May Not Be The Winner

For gamers waiting for the next generation of consoles, we’re finally into the home stretch. Sony's PlayStation 4 launch is just a week away on Nov. 15 and Microsoft's Xbox One launches a week after on Nov. 22. In early buzz, more people are talking about Sony’s new entry. But even with less of the conversation, Microsoft could still finish on top, according to new data from several social media trackers.

And even though PlayStation will get an extra week to sell consoles and build an early lead, SDL is predicting from its data that Xbox One will end up outselling its rival by 1.5 to 1 for the holiday season. That’s less than how Xbox 360 outsold PS3 last year, but still a lead that goes against what you’d expect based on the relative amount of social buzz for each console so far.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Lol no... I don't believe that the Xbox one will outsell the PS4. It might get close but will not beat the PS4 worldwide. Maybe in the USA and UK the Xbox will win.

Do we share a different internet? The most talked about console is actually the XBO...

*insert Logico15's sig here*

Some posters seem to be writing off the Xbone in NA and have a belief that the PS4 will come out the gate and leave it in the dust. It's completely foolish and premature in my opinion. The 360 has a 17 million lead in NA over the previous PS console. That's a massive sell-through difference. Sony might have some great launch buzz and a very compelling product on their hands at a cheaper price tag, but right from the start they're fighting an uphill battle in that territory. They have to convince that huge gap to switch brands this time around. I wouldn't be surprised if the gap closes significantly, but the Xbone still leads at the end of this gen in NA by a significant amount.

I don't think they're going to sell pass Christmas.  As much as there is hype for both systems, they're both going to eat each other's market.  They're way too close to release and too similar.  I'm guessing that one is going to be sold more than the other, of course, but I don't see massive support.  No games, I don't count any of the launch titles to be anything AAA or even A for both console.

Your initial adopters will of course pick them up, but after that, both will tapper off.  That is to say there won't be any customers in the near future.  Simply I look at it from a consumer(general consumer) point of view.  Too expensive.  I would buy the two later, but not until they can put out a good library.

I love you.
