We already knew this. The patch is to remove the always online DRM, it would never have worked without online anyway.

Yet they could have included the patch on a disc, or put it in the boot loader of launch game discs. That used to be how I got all my Wii patches, why can't they put it on the game discs anymore?
For ps4 you can order a disc to unlock blu-ray/dvd features. (should have been included too though)

so even after they reversed their policies....you still need to be connected to the internet in order to use your XBone? They are really trying to push this "you need internet to play games that you own that don't require internet"

You don't have to have a Live membership in order to get updates right?

i think we knew that there was going to be a day one patch, but i'm not sure if we knew it was going to be mandatory, I could be wrong though...

So don't bother with this console if you don't have an internet connection.

Not a problem for a lot of people, but it is for some. The console is losing the interest of more and more groups, however small, all the time.
