The North American ad? Guess what? Kids only.

NOA's attitude is Nintendo is for kids primarily, everyone else doesn't need to be marketed to. We don't get things like the white 3DS either because apparently all we want are brightly colored DS systems (thanks Reggie).

The Japanese ad is no better, she's just making "cute" sounds and talking about how cute everything is.

It doesn't have to do much to be better than the NOA ad, the NOA spot is that terrible. But worse than than that the image the NOA marketing pushes is horrible, Nintendo is for kids, blah, blah, blah. At least in Japan they find it OK to market Nintendo games to adults, not sure why NOA is so deathly afraid of doing the same.

In my 20 years of following Nintendo, their current marketing agency is the worst. Not even the GameCube era was this bad. At least the "clean is better than dirty" Sunshine spot was trying to be funny.

Well, I agree that Nintendo's marketing has changed to more "kiddy" over the last decade. They seem to be cornering themselves in that segment of the market.

That was uploaded to Nintendo's American Youtube channel.

This also reminds me of the entire "I Am Not A Gamer" campaign, targeted at adult women... people complained about that, too. I guess if instead of saying, "I'm not a gamer," Dianna Agron and Gabrielle Douglass had just made cat noises, those commercials would've been top-tier in the eyes of this community.

Again, that's the European ad, doesn't change because Nintendo of America decided to throw it onto their Youtube channel, that commercial never ran once in North America ever. Neither did those Robin Williams/Zelda Williams TV commercials, even though they're both American (!). NOA knows better apparently.

The US ad featured a 10 year old kid playing the game and kids around a city going crazy over coins.

The "I'm not a gamer" ads were OK, but again pretty strictly aimed at the Disney Channel crowd ... Diana Agron and Gabrielle Douglas ... Penelope Cruz they ain't. Those commercials are aimed at 12 year old girls.

NOA markets strictly for the 8-14 year old demographic pretty much.

thanks for the videos, the gfx look better than what they showed in their first direct,

Ads are ads different crowds like different things I guess. I am actually more surprised how normal the Japanese ad is lol

Thats prob why I havent seen a nintendo commercial on tv in ages. I dont watch the channels they advertise on. And those ads are bad........... Im glad I havent.

Yeah you have to watch Disney Channel or Cartoon Network to see any Nintendo commercials, NOA doesn't advertise outside of kids channels any more.

Contrast that with the PS4/XB1 launches, I've seen that "It's a Perfect Day" PS4 spot like 30+ times over the past month and the "join Spock/giant mech/Roman warriors" XB1 commercial like 15-20 times.

that japanese girl is a famous actress. Not a model.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

It's because of the influence of Christianity and the Political Right's view of what Family Entertainment should be in America. Remember the outcry over "MadWorld" in America ( http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/parents-groups-protest-release-wii-violent-video-game-madworld-article-1.371494 )? Nintendo really hasn't tried to push a more mature themed game in America since then. So, it will be interesting to see how Bayonetta turns out or if it even receives any marketing at all. It could be that it will be censored for American audiences,
