The combat looks less complicated than a DMC or GoW, but it looks really pretty. It's hard to assess the depth of the mechanics until we get our hands in it.

A. You're comparing Ryse with very different games. As I mentioned before, Ryse is going for a combat system more similar to Assassins Creed.

B. The combat in GoW has zero complexity. Button mash and QTEs.

And Ryse is QTE with more QTE's on top of even more QTE with what looks like overly simplistic gameplay so what's the problem? GoW at least offers a variety of combat methods whether your dodging or using magic.

Looking at gameplay videos of GoW it doesn't look like variety in any way. But let's wait for some reviews before we shit on a game we haven't played yet, shouldn't we?

Well we should all probably wait on reviews before we start praising a game then, correct?

Defensive much?

I haven't played Ryse so I'm not sure how complex it is. But my eyes roll when people pretend GoW is a complex.

Yep, MS has a real problem with the internet getting excited about their games before launch.

I can't seem to go anywhere on the web without reading massive praise about Ryse.

Where did I state its complex? In fact most games are simplistic, especially GoW and what GoW does it does well. Can't say the same about Ryse and won't say it until I actually play it, but judging by the gameplay I'm not overly impressed.

I roll my eyes too, when users attempt to interpret other users emotions.

Plenty of praise Ryse.

Definitely a lot of disdain for it deservedly so based on the footage that's been displayed.

Lots of love for the graphics though, there's no doubting Crytek can make beautiful games.

People are praising it because of the graphics, not for its gameplay.

Watching over people play games is never particularly interesting, the same comments have been thrown at Knack... I try not to watch too many gameplay videos as i find it better to experience it for myself.

But the combat does look (and i haven't played it)... boring. Go from one simple battle to the next.. enemies just sitting there waiting to be attacked. I would hope there are more weapons than just a sword/shield/spear... a good number of weapons does give you more design options/interesting things.

But i think my biggest issue with it from the videos is the slow motion death kills.... it just seems like there are too many of them. Many games that use this technique did it on the last baddy only in an area so that it doesn't grate too much or break up the action.

Also is it me or does that video look very dark.. it looks not bad, but not amazing?

Anyway, as long as people who buy it enjoy it thats all that matters.
