100.30M is the last official shipped number directly from Nintendo for the Wii.

   2.19M difference between the two.

Possible but unlikely. I'd say the newly annouced $100 Wii mini model with Mario Kart gives it a slight chance, as it will surely provide SOME kind of boost. Plus the holidays are near, which favor Nintendo products. Question is  how much of a boost will it get?

In reality though, it probably isn't going to reach PS1, thanks mainly to Nintendo's incompetence from post 2009 and third parties shitting on it. It's a bummer for us Nintendo fans, but at the end of the day, what does a few million extra sales really matter in the grand scheme of things, aside from the e-penis thing from a few thousand Sony nerds on the gaming forums? For my money anyway, Wii was a far better console than PS1.

It's true, Nintendo doesn't really care about passing the PS1 like some of us do.   They already passed the 100M milestone which they wanted to and by comparison Sony had to sell the PS1 @ a MSRP of $49 to get there (around 13M at that price).  The Wii Mini might be profitable but it's more about selling Wii software from here on out.

Perhaps. If Nintendo decides to manufacture and sell Wii in emerging markets, it could potentially make it easier. The US alone won't do it this year though

I thought it was a sure thing until production in Japan ended. Now I just don't know if it can make it or not.

If they open it up to more markets with the wii mini and some bundled games, maybe yes.

Wii Mini + Mario Kart + Wii Sports would do some serious damage in China.

I think it may still be possible, but at this point in time I wouldn't bet on it.
