Thank you. Now that you gave me the exerpt how does my perception of the situation seem any different than what Iwata said the market would percieve it as?

Like I said, your perception on anything Nintendo is always predictable.
Everyone on this forum, including you, know Nintendo have dabbled in touchscreens before.

I disagree. Read through what he says, what do you think he means by use smartphones to drive sales of dedicated gaming systems?

I think he means exactly what he said, that they are using things like Twitter and FB, etc., to help promote their consoles. I do not think that Nintendo ever intends to put a VC service on cell phones. Why would they do that, when it would just undercut one of the draws to their own hardware?

For instance, we already made it possible to browse Wii U’s networking service called Miiverse on smart devices. Starting with this attempt, we are discussing among us how we can expand the use of smart devices to help drive the business of dedicated gaming systems.
"Starting with" means they are planning to do more in the future. They already doing Twitter and Facebook so he doesn't mean that.
How many people would not have bought a Wii/Wii U/3DS if it didn't have the Virtual Console? Take that number and compare it to the 1.5 billion smartphone owners that Nintendo could use the VC to advertise to.

Dude....instead of complaining, take notice that even he noticed that the market would react better to he who gets to the market first. They will gain the title of revolutionary, hence why they said there basically wont be a revolution. Even if I made a mistake Iwata confirmed predicted I would react this way. He's not stupid nor am I blind. Stop being so defensive.

I repeat, everyone on this forum, who doesn't regularly use all kinds of twisted logic to discredit anything Nintendo (and MS does), know about the DS and had the sense to realize that the WiiU gamepad wasn't created just because Nintendo saw iPad sales and decided they wanted in on that.
There's a reason why MS or Nintendo fans get defenssive when they see the name S.T.A.G.E. pop up in a thread concerning Xbox or Nintendo. They know what's most likely coming. It's a natural reflex at this point.

You should've seen Sony fans when I first joined this forum. You'll see biased MS owners who knew me back in 2008 asking me why I am not the same way I used to be. It's called...I broadened my horizons. Every group should be at the ready for me, I guess if you're so paranoid that should suffice. You don't like the way I say things, just like a couple others. It doesn't mean what I am saying is ultimately out of the question. Think about it.

Okay, man. Whatever.
