Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Battlefield 4 comparison videos (Next Gen vs Current Gen and Xbox One vs PS4)

I was watching this video and I'm glad to see that the resolution difference does not show up...

Things I noticed :

- The textures looks better on the Xbox One (at least in my oppinion).
- The lightning and reflection are better on the Xbox One (the underwater scene in the car is a good exemple).
- Finally the PS4 version seems to be bluried in some way.

Based on my personnal taste, I'm very glad the Xbox One version looks better :)

Everyone : What's your opppinion (based on your personnal oppinion), please do not bash and try to be objective for a change...

PS: If a mod can move this to the Gaming category :( I'm so used to post in MS forums that I forgot to select the right one.

Those IGN vids are crap. If you want to see decent footage watch these in 1440p which helps make up for YouTube's also crappy compression.

IMHO these are the best vids currently available and show how the PS4s multiplayer looks on par or better than the XB1s single player.

Yet again, we are comparing videos in which the contrast, or brightness, appear to be the main differences, which is EXACTLY what we had between PS3 and 360.

Sony's hardware seems to run darker shades, meaning fewer details compared to when games are ran brighter such as with Microsoft's. However, that can change in most applications just by adjusting brightness.

In terms of pure graphical comparisons, they have been and will be identical in most multi-plat games. We also can't ever verify the settings these presentations are running on.

Awwwww. But that comparison is more accurate and doesn't fit my agenda.

I do not see the difference with the compression over the two sources of video to be honnest and I believe that the compression on IGN cannot really alter only one side of the screen (like only blurring the PS4 right side and not the Xbox One left side). To me there is a real differences between the two (not that huge).

Regarding the MP (PS4) vs SP (X1) I do not really take the time to compare it but it looks like you definitely find the PS4 MP better looking, I will have to take the time to look at this in detail to make my own oppinion but for now I take yours :)

I think that there is definitely a difference in lightning/contrast (like DCOK) said and the which then come back to personnal taste.

Is it difficult to have a good convesation without starting bitching?
It is based on personal oppinion/taste, nothing to do with having an agenda... Esp. when the exact same thing can be said regarding the other source of video...

Next time instead of starting shit in the tread, please take the time to look at the videos and give your honnest oppinion for a change...

Right. I could see how some people like darker shading for certain setups (or personal preference in general). Personally, I prefer the brighter contrast Xbox pushes. But, again, that can always be adjusted in some ways.

Unfortunately your opinion most likely will be taken as a XOne enthusiast. BUT...

I agree (almost reluctantly) with you. The PS4 textures, assets and whole image appear blurred (that's why even lightnings and reflections appear better on XOne, because of that IMO), it is the "soft blur" of DF face-off, which is still there on others websites. It is not a conspiration guys, PS4 DF screenshots have not been tampered with because we can see at IGN the same anomaly. I am not talking about resolution, nor jaggies but only strong Quincunux, vaseline type effect which can be applied even on a 900p image.

Even the PS3 appears sometimes as much fuzzy than PS4 for instance at around 1:30 when at the same time XOne appears lots cleaner than X360. And remember PS3 footage is also upscaled with just MLAA applied, no sharpened textures for PS3.

Again, at 3:30, here PS3 with the face of the guy seems slightly more detailed than PS4's.

Here I can't even believe what I am watching. I can't fathom how this is even possible. Bad upscaler (really bad)? Strong Quincunux? Pure archaic software blur? Problem with the PS4 review machines?
