Mk8 in May. I can roll with that, since Reaper of Souls comes out in late March. It seems odd that they're spacing two major releases by almost three months, but at least we have two major releases in three months.

Indeed, and in the time between hopefully we shall see the likes of Watch_Dogs, Shovel Knight and other 3rd party titles. It's not like they'll be no games, or indeed a lack of games released. I just feel like Nintendo could maybe have gone in for the kill had they launched earlier, with the XOne wobbling and the PS4 ready to go at any moment.

In a way I kind of understand the spacing though. Like you said, they could have gone for the kill in this One/PS4 drought, but then what? What if they fell into a drought themselves while both the One and the PS4 are in full steam? That would put them in a much more dangerous position than they are already.

For now, it's an okay schedule date. Not good, just okay.

I'm going to take advantage of my good standing here to plug a thread I made: Capcom vs. Konami from a historical point of view.

Basically, vote for your favorite of the two companies across generations of consoles and handhelds. That way, we get to see at which points each was strongest and weakest.

3DS News: January 30, 2013

  • Only one more day left this month to vote for your most anticipated games.
  • Weekly Sales figures are in for the Week ending the 18th. The 3DS led the software charts with Pokemon X/Y and Kirby Triple Deluxe each selling over 80,000 copies at retail. Other notable 3DS games this week included Puzzles & Dragons Z, A Link Between Worlds, Mario Party, and Animal Crossing. In case you missed it, Pokemon X/Y has now officially sold over 10 million copies! X/Y has sold 4 million in Japan alone, becoming the 19th best selling retail game of all time in the country.
  • Shin Megami Tensei 4 is still only $30 on the eShop.
  • The 3DS is no longer getting Pac-Man Museum. Seems to me like this is the sort of game that would do well on the 3DS, but I don't mind.
  • Four Swords is back on the 3DS until February 2. Get it for a low price of $0.
  • Tales of the Abyss for 3DS is on sale from Namco Bandai... or is it Bamco Nandai? I know they changed it up recently... Anyway, the game is $6 off.
  • Conception 2 is coming to Europ via eShop.
  • A Bravely Default info round-up.
  • IGN is looking forward to a lot of 3DS games.
  • What in the... well... there's this Kickstarter project... and there's a 3DS stretch goal... so I gues I've got to mention this. Indie developer DOT Studio is fundraising for a game called Eco Spirits, where you can "Battle, train and trade monsters through different modes with your friends." The 3DS goal is a mere $2.3 million. They've already got 7 backers, so I'd say they're on a roll!
