ive beaten it today took me just a little over 8hours but its probably over 10 hours I died and restarted from last save points a lot and I got 66% items .. to answer your question NO i totally forgot about it :p I got lost and by accident found ridley and was on my way to the last boss but it wasnt needed anyways so I wasted almost an hour to find it. amazing game i just wish the boss's were a bit harder to beat and i got stuck in 2 locations couldnt get out no matter what i tried and had to restart maybe thats where the spring ball was needed... and my favorite part of super metroid was the countdown at the end i just love to run from things

I mean yeah we got some games a week early

and we got a kirby game almost 3 months earlier

Congrats!

It took me 16 hours the first time I played it.  I had rented it with a friend and we played it all night.  Finished at 10 in the morning.  I'm sure the ticker was running while we took smoke breaks or whatever.  

Nope...Spring Ball is definitely not necessary.  I only ever get it if I'm doing a 100%.  It's very out of the way, and that's saying a lot for a Metroid game.  The bosses are probably a bit on the easy side, but that's fine by me.  They get harder when you play for low percentage.  Did you use any sequence breaks?  Did you use a walkthrough or tutorial videos?  Yes...the countdown is iconic Metroid, but you may not know that there's an added bonus during this countdown.  Let's just say that if you went straight to your ship after beating Mother Brain, then you're a monster.

Don't forget Codename STEAM, either...though we got Xenoblade, TLS and PL vs AA earlier so I suppose it all balances out.

You wouldn't think it would be overly difficult to have the same release date, or near the same release date.

no why ?  but i had to look up the wall jump on youtube while i was playing it drove me crazy i thought at one point it was impossible  .. i think i know what you mean and yes i did go to the ship first because i was scared :p
