Not really. I tried using it on PS3, and it never worked out as well as just connecting my PC to my TV.

While it isn't amazing on PS3, I was hoping they would improve it on PS4. It was by backup solution given they don't seem to be supporting USB hard drives anymore.

PS3 media server worked just fine.

It worked, but it wasn't exactly the best experience; you just had a load of files and folders. It would be cool if they had improved upon it, look at what you have with Plex:

The real problem was the lack of the n protocol, restricting speed to 54mb/s. No room for HD videos with this bandwidth. I was more than certain tha PS4 would easily reach 300mb/s and couldn't wait for it. Now I am disappointed.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

It's no good, but obviously it's easy to see why it's being done, so they can make more money off of their own services (not a fan of that approach, but hey... it's Sony CORP after all). I've stopped using my PS3 as a media server as soon as I got a laptop to replace it at that task (which it does much better), but some people are gonna be disappointed, including the devs of PS3 media server I s'pose.

I don't know much about Vita TV but I suspect this weird apparatus has also something to do with it...

While I've never actually used that feature, I have to say I'm pissed that's it's gone.

Xbox1 is back in the game for me.

Because it also doesn't support dlna???

Well, right now it's not WORSE than the PS4 in this regard. So yes.

Let me get this right, you're going to spend a hundred dollars more just so you can play music while you're NOT playing a game(Cause that's how the PS4 would handle that, as the PS3 does)?  Assuming the Xbox One still has MP3 support.  Assuming the Xbox One's DLNA support is just as bad as the 360s... well it's really bad and not really to useful.

At OP, I'm a sad Panda.  I use that feature often.  PS3 has some nice video filters too that I can't quite replicate on VLC or Media Center Classic.  On another note, I ordered an Android Dongle last night.

Launch games Not looking good either.

Meh nothing that cant be changed with an update. I have 1000 devices that play music, it doesn't have to be my ps4. It was a great feature I used alot on x360 though, I think we just need to keep pestering sony about it.

No issue

But that you cant play MP3 music on PS4 without a music unlimited sub is troublesome. I can't be the only one who listen to music on the background while playing a game right?

You could not do that on the PS3. Plus, I'm sure you can afford $1 a month.

NO. All I say is that unlike after the Xbone reveal I'll take BOTH platforms into consideration in 1-3yrs when I actually intend to buy one of them. You wouldn't have seen me typing this a few months ago, but MS HAS stepped up their game and Sony HAS been slipping here.
