Yeah, last I checked Sony haven't got many profitable movie releases this year, Smurfs 2 I think? And that was smaller than the first movie, plus shitload of flops :-/ they need Bond, now.

Well they've got Spiderman next year...

Good, well marketed (Skyfall had shitload of all sorts of ads for like 3 months) Spiderman has the potential to get close to a billion in box office. First one had like 750 million $, right? And superhero movies are really popular now.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Is sony still shipping the PS2?

I already saw: Q1 and Q2 don`t include Ps2 numbers.

I think PS3 is undertracked by about 100 or 200k. Or, we have a lot of Ps3 on shelves.

Yeah, Spiderman did well, but I think the series is suffering from a bit of fatigue having just been re-rebooted. The problem they had this year was about 3 blockbusters failing, they just need to be a bit more careful with their films. I don't really know what they have coming other than Spiderman though

So, the PS3 was at 80M (at least) as for the 30th of September? 20M more to go to end up first ^_^

More than 20mil! Wii still selling in US!

If VGChartz is to be believed, it's less than 20M.

can anyone explain the loss in pictures please? Did a movie bomb or something?

Less dvd and bluray sales and TV licenses related stuff (networks paying less for Sony movies)... for movie bombing it was "White House Down"

I think I would add Elysium and After Earth at least to that, don't think they have made profit if we count marketing budget. Don't remember if any others.

Elysium did pretty good actually on a 115 million budget making 280 million.. marketing should have been around 50 to 70 million

After Earth had a 130 million budget and made 243 million... marketing budget was 100 million.. so its like break even/ small loss
after earth is just a bad movie so people also think it bombed hard.. but in reality it didn't bomb that hard

White House Down had a.. wait for it.. 150 million budget and it only made 205 million.. think the marketing should be in the range of Elysium..
