Forums - Gaming - PS4 has the Superior Version of Battlefield 4

The PC will do everything, and heaps more. Don't let these compare videos fool you. Once you play the PC version at a solid 60FPS with 1080p with MSAAx8 and a greater draw distance the consoles don't even come close. This water effect your talking about even if the PC doesn't have it (unlikely) PC is a clear winner in graphics and anyone in this thread choosing there console over these slight differences between the XB1 and PS4 might want to reconsider and buy a Gaming Rig.

Watched the video - could not tell much of a difference.

Maybe I am too old for this, but who the *beeeep* cares about slightly better textures or higher resolution during gameplay. I am all for a technical progress, but when there is a discussion going on about which version looks better, you know that it is getting ridiculous.

I bet I could change the name of the console in the corner of the video and the same people would change their minds with it.

My prediction, that the technical gap between PS4 and Xbox One will be the smallest one ever is getting better and better.

Technical gap is smaller than ps3-360 where the resolutions were almost always the same and the framerate differences were 2-3 FPS at best, while we see 50% more pixels and 40% better framerate between ps4-xbox1. Some people really live in a fantasy world.

Yeah, because the number of pixels define how good the visuals are...
Wipeout HD is the best looking PS3 game CONFIRMED!

Ninja Gaiden II ran at 60FPS, The Last of Us had only 30 FPS. Ninja Gaiden II has better visuals. #fact!

The only people living in a fantasy world are the ones that try to see the PS4 like the PC version on Ultra settings.
This ONE GAME looks almost identical. No differences you would actually notice during gameplay. Xbox One seems to have better textures, PS4 seems to have better AA.

The differences between both consoles will be tiny and BF4 proves me right.

No reasoning, just facts:

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Luckily, every PS3 owner already has a PC.

So PS4 version has a higher resolution and better frame rate? Did that happen much last gen?

It happened with Final Fantasy XIII I think where the PS3 version had slightly higher resolution.

You are right, I just checked. That was 720p to 576p, the same ratio as 900p to 720p. That might be a good game to look at to get an idea of the difference.

Well it's just the beginning. Next week we will have the confirmation with COD on 1080p on PS4 and 720p on One

That's the thing that gets me, though.  Framerate aside (which the PS4 wins), why does it matter if the Xbox One version is being artificially sharpened?  Doesn't the end result of what you personally see on screen matter most of all?  I mean Wind Waker HD on Wii U (Neutral system, here) runs at 1080p and 60fps but it's not the best looking game on the console to me.  I'm one of those people that doesn't care if RAGE on Xbox 360 is doing all kinds of technical stuff that I can't see.  The game looks ugly to me.  What I'm saying in a drawn out way is that looking good looks good.  If your girl looks better because she used make-up after she got dressed and mine looks better without make-up, your girl still looks hotter right?

Though we all know it's what's inside that counts.

Inside her vagina, that is!  I'm talking about penis.  *high five*

Haha. End line made me got me.

Well, in grand scheme of things.. the technical stuff probably won't make much of a difference to the masses. Coming from a gen where 30fps (and under) is the norm, I'm sure most gamers will be satifised with either version.

And don't mind me. I'm just a bit anal with when it comes to image quality. :P

Is not comfirmed the resolutions, maybe upscaling 1080p [rumor]. For now the use for Smoother anti-aliasing on PS4 like the texture plastic and blurred , not seem real. Xone contrast is up and lights. But Ps4 resolutions is little better.

The Xbox One version has a post processing sharpening filter over the scene, so actual fact, the image less accurate since it is artificially boosted. So while it looks like there is more detail than the PS4 version, the latter in fact truer to the (no holds bar) PC version. Also, bearing in mind, that the PS4 has a higher internal resolution.. finer details like sharp lines appear much smoother on it, which holds up better against aliasing artifacts when upscaled, verses running at native res. This will be more apparent in motion.

And to be honest, I'm not a big fan of boosted contrast/high gamma setting on my sources. I honestly rather have my display do that since it's already calibrated and can be tweaked better to my liking. Although I can see most people taking a liking for the more dynamic image of the Xbox One.

So all in all the PS4 version is much better on a technical level, with; SSAO on, a higher resolution and a higher framerate. Though the Xbox One version of BF4 is no slouch (technically cannot be compared), surprisingly, holds up pretty well to the PS4 version.. despite the difference in resolution. Given that the upscaler and post processing used on the Xbox One version does a bang up job making the game still look great at 720P is commendable in itself.

Trust me they dont. And they need to if Graphics are all they care about.

Funny people saying show me 50% difference, 720p vs 900p is a 50% difference in pixels by itself, add on the better frame rate your now passing 50%.

Also strange people are so intent in arguing over the lowest res PS4 launch title, i know its the first comparison, but god knows how bad these threads will get when COD videos come out.
