Errr... NBA 2K11?! That is ridiculous, sorry to say.
I have reservations on God of war 3 and Uncharted 2 in comparison with their sequals.

I would love to make a top 10 list, but its far too early. The generation is still gonna last a couple more years and theres games i'm looking forward to next year and others from this year i havent played yet.

I could say some of the game that would probably be there. Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, Tales of Vesperia, Nier.

Ummm...the greatest sports game of the generation being on a end of the generation list is ridiculous? Even if you don't like sports or sports games objectively you have to marvel at the attention to detail and the labour of love for digitally recreating basketball as faithfully as humanely possible NBA 2K11 and so on are...

In all honesty your post is the ridiculous one good sir....

Oh really? Why dont you tell us how the gameplay improved compared to the past generation. How engaging the setting is, how inspiring the score is, how griping the storyline and the characters were.

No, a sports game is far from beeing digital art. Improved graphics dont make a good game.

Wow. The sheer audacity of your ignorance on the matter is astonishing. NBA 2K has the most detailed accurate and polished gameplay of any sports game in history. Including every players shot, dribble, and free throw mechanics. Authentic play books and coaches tendaces and smart as a whip AI. Look pal, just because you're ignorant of sports don't make them irrelevant or devoid of quality. It makes you a close minded fool.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

I think that when people go as low as insult others over their opinion, you can tell they dont have a strong reasoning. You didnt have an answer to the questions i gave you, you know that this game, while im sure its a good game, does not hold up to the competition just cause it has good animations and realistic graphics.

Look i'll make it very clear. 10 years from now, do you see anyone playing NBA2k11? I'm sure that by then there will be an NBA2k21. Is there any reason to go back and play 11 again? No, there isnt, its the same game with better graphics and animations. Now compare to say Uncharted. You might have uncharted 8 in 10 years... is uncharted 2 still worth playing? Yes! Why? Because it is a completely different setting, characters, music and story. These are what makes a generational game. Its something that you see people playing years from now. NBA2K11? Sorry, no one is gonna be playing that in the future. Its not a unique game.

Tagging for tracking -_- Why are some of you not voting in the thread that is giving awards -_- lol

Around the Network

1. Super Mario Galaxy

Pure distilled fun, with more creativity and cleverness is single levels than most video games have in their entire length. Everything from the controls, to the music, to the graphics is utterly magical.

2. Super Mario Galaxy 2

It may not have broken ground as spectacularly as its predecessor, but it is no less elegant and masterful.

3. Bioshock

One of the most immersive and enthralling adventures out there, with a tantalising world to explore and dyanmic, intelligent combat.

4. Bioshock Infinite

Carries over the strengths of the original while setting a new NPC gold standard with the heldful and endearing Elizabeth.

5. Bayonetta

In an industry bogged down by dull realism, Bayonetta's absolute refusal to let any semblence of logic interfere with the fun is a breath of fresh air. Doesn't hurt that its also the most fluid and intense action game I've ever had to the pleasure to play.

6. Xenoblade

A sprawling, imaginative world to explore, a lengthy quest, a complex and engaging battle system, a deep story, and a soundtrack to die for.

7. Donkey Kong Country Returns

Brings 2D platforming to whole new level with wonderfully dynamic and interactive environments, devious level design, and the kind of challenge that excites without ever frustrating.

8. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

This is what I dreamed of when I heard about the Wii; a game where I could cut down goblins with the swing of my own arm, and physically interact with a fantastical world. The pinnacle of Nintendo's motion control revolution.

9. Metroid Prime 3 Corruption

Set the standard for first person Wiimote controls, and transports the player to some of the most incredible game worlds I've ever encountered.

10. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The controls may not be as sophisticated as Skyward Sword, but that Nintendo charm and elegance of design still elevates it to greatness.

You continue exhibiting your ignorance at astonishing rates. SPEAK FOR YOURSELF PAL. I own NBA 2K13 and YES I STILL PLAY NBA 2K11 to this day. The ability to play the greatest moments of Michael Jordan's career exclsively on this game GUARANTEES people will still be playing it. Most NBA 2K enthusiasts I know still play it as well. You clearly are not reading my posts because I've said several times the authentic and realistic gameplay is what makes NBA 2Kspecial.GAMEPLAY. Not animations. G A M E P L A Y lol

And your ten years from now argument is baseless anyway because Journey greatly loses its replay value adter you've completed it once or twice ans I doubt people who have completed it will be playing it in 10 years and it's STILL one the best games this gen. You make no ense whatsoever. Your Ignorant disdain for sports and sports games is just that: YOURS. And your opinion on the matter is not the gospel. It's just arbtrary nonsense lol

NBA 2K11 is without a doubt the best bball SIM of this GEN, followed closely by 2K13.  However, the JayZ influence in 13 I find extremely annoying but the gameplay is great.  My fav basketball game of this GEN overall is NBA JAM On Fire Edition, but 2K11 is completely justifiable being on your list, IMO.  The Jordan mode is timeless.

So, you are completely sure they wont add a new and more refined Jordan mode in a future game? Sports game of the generation is something i could still agree with, but game of the generation. Sorry, no chance. You can keep trying to insult as much as you want, my logic is sound. Theres no standards to your list. Yes, gameplay... 10 years from now you will have new iterations of the game with new teams the same and refined gameplay and a new jordan highlights. Its not game of the generation material. Squirm all you want. If it was, it would be on alot of GOTY lists. But sports games are just yearly or almost yearly iterations. They are not unique.

My God you are a complete baffoonlol what planet do you live on? NBA 2k11 was on dozens of goty Lists when it was released. Not only are you ignorant in matters of sports and sports games but also with gaming history in general. I can no longer converse with you. Nothing you say is sound. You SOUND like a lunatic lol you clearly have never played the game and you clearly hate sports but thats YOU and you don make any rules whatsoever, what you say only has merit to YOU...because you clearly live in your own little secluded world where gaming greatness and merit it's defined by you. You can stay there. Reality begs to differ however lol
