Forums - Nintendo - why isnt Mario Sunshine on 3DS?

Every mainline console Mario game seems to get rereleased on Nintendo handhelds. Super Mario Bros Deluxe was released on Gameboy Color. Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island were all rebranded as the Super Mario Advance series for Gameboy Advance. Super Mario 64 DS launched alongside the Nintendo DS. We are 2.5 years in the life of 3DS and have yet to hear anything about a Super Mario Sunshine 3D, will it ever happen?

I doubt it, as it seems to be the "least" popular of the mainline mario games.

That's a very good point.

I think that at the moment we have had too many Mario Games.
In just 2 years we had SuperMario3DLand - New Super Mario Bros 2 - New Super Mario Bros U - Super Mario 3D World is around the corner - and rumors of some N64 games to be re-made for WiiU in HD; maybe at the very end of 3DS life or in 2 years time they may think about a £D version of Sunshine... But I would prefer an HD version to be honest. Same as The Wind Waker.

Switch!!!

one major problem is the analog triggers of gamecube would be difficult to emulate on 3ds. Recall, you release a blast of water when the trigger is fully pressed. It could be done with simple remapping. I hope to god they do it. I love that game. I wish he used a water flower instead of a pack but that's another story. Mean time i've got my gc.

ps. worth noting, 3ds got a remake of ocarina.  I think that filled the role.

I dont think Ocarina filled the role because GBC and GBA each had a Zelda remake as well

I think the real question is... why would the 3ds need a remake of Mario Sunshine ?

Wind Waker is one of the least popular Zelda games but it got a remake

As a big fan of Mario Sunshine I'd much rather have an HD remake on the Wii U then a port to the 3DS and im pretty sure the 3DS can't handle the specs of a Gamecube game anyways. Anyways with the recent flood of Mario games I think a remake or port should take a backseat to other series that to make their debut on the 3DS and Wii U.

i forgot about those

I loved Sunshine. I even bought it twice after my first disc got scratched. It was a spectacular game at the time (and it still is) but a little difficult to some players. I'd definitely buy it again if they can replicate the Gamecube controller's ability on modern hardware.
