This seems to have been a very bad quarter for their sales in Others.

It does manage to pull ahead of Japan for software.  Mostly because the Wii/DS are basically dead in Japan, but make up more than half of the others software.

It's always about shipment, mate. Hopefully, the 3DS can sell 10M from October to December to make up the difference in shipment from last year.

So, on average, a 3DS owner has bought 3.5 games. That's a lot of casual gamers.

Was hoping for better. Still though Nintendo should have a great next quarter.

Why? What's the difference whether it's up or down over an arbitrary 12-month period? It'll be up this quarter over the same quarter last year. The biggest quarter of the year by far, the quarter that frequently accounts for as many sales as the other 3 quarters combined.

Companies don't even measure or care about January-through-December sales. They use the fiscal year, April-through-March. So toss out your numbers and start over from April if you're going by what it's "always about."

In the beginning of this year, I wrote down what I expected Nintendo's hardware sales to be at by 01-01-14. In addition to that, I put up some figures for Microsoft and Sony, when we learned of their machines. Of course with those two new consoles, much of their sales has to do with how many are shipped. As for Nintendo, at this point it's going to be pretty tough to see Wii U hit my original expectations. It'd have to have a phenomenal last two months to even get close. Here's hoping for the best. Time will tell...

he saying new model from last year is why it was up which is true, 3DS can sell 10m Oct-Dec? it has 10 weeks to do so! its already sold over 1mil so far in Oct! just 9mil more to go!

Your 3DS prediction is a little low! It'll pass that easily. Its at 35.5mil as of Oct 19th It'll sell over 5.4mil in the next 2 Months !  I wish WiiU will sell that high, it'll sell around 6.2mil by years end maybe up to 7mil!

So does this include Monster Hunter and Pokemon sales in the 200m operating lose?
