Forums - Nintendo - RUMOR - WiiWare involvement for Super Smash Bros. Brawl

@Oyvo: It largely depends on how you look at it. At the moment i make more like 18$/h (it's crappy, i know), which makes 10$/hour look bad. But if average would be 8$/h, then you could consider 10$/h good, after all, it's better than average.
So what i was saying originally, is that even if you would consider it as a bad thing, it's not going to be any worse than what competition has, since the competition has similar features and the readers can make their own conclusion about is the extra content in Live or PSN used for milking or not. I know you wanted to look things separately, but it's like saying you see it as a bad thing you can't fly to moon with Wii, when we put it in the context that you can't fly to moon with PS360 either.

@Smash Brother: You just upload the character to your opponents RAM. Just like the user generated stages.

The amount of data that would require to upload is too great.

You're uploading a texture set, polygon, shading, animation, sound effects, winning theme, voice effects...this is far too much to upload before a match.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

humm... this would be interesting if nintendo really did implimenta wiiware channel for SSBB. However, I cannot see them charging for character models, stages, and songs. Well it is possible that they could sell those things, but i seriously would doubt if they would be playable online. Especially since people playing online may not have the character models, stages, or songs if they have not paid for the actual items. In addition, I seriously doubt that nintendo really did put those characters lockable on brawl. However, who knows time will tell, but if they do I would be interested in seeing how it is implemented.

Even if this is was true(doubt it) we probably wouldn't be able to download characters cause it would take so much for everything like the characters inclusion in SSE and so on.

They wouldn't be put into SSE--there are a few characters even now that aren't going to be in it (remember, some characters can only be unlocked in multiplayer, and you unlock a character in SSE after you play their level)

Question though: Storage space?????

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I hope this is true

If this is true, I hope they release new stuff in a year or so. Maybe 6 months. Then again, it may be 6 more months before the US gets WiiWare anyway. =\
