(Copy paste from my reply to Bruxel other thread because I'm too damn lazy.)

I don't know how to post images directly, if someone keen can do it for me, I'd be grateful.

Click below for epicness. My own screenshots are of course horribly compressed.

With the amount of mods available on skyrim nexus and the state of the vanilla game as it is, I don't know how people remotely enjoy the game on consoles.

@ bolded link (the first one): what is the minimum config a PC must have to run those at, say, at least 30 fps? I don't think mine can handle it :(

(Before someone asks, I have a notebook with I7 @ 3.4, 8 gigs, 2 gigs 7730 HD Mobile GPU).

I'm afraid pemalite might quote me if I answer hardware related questions lol (<3 your rig pema). Your cpu is pretty much sorted for some cpu intensive mods but I'm afarid what you saw in bolded link is running at 1080p Ultra settings with high resolution texture mods lol. My 7950 runs that enb at ultra with varying levels of performance. In some areas mostly indoors I get a constant 60fps. Outdoors it varies from 60fps dipping down to 35-40 fps in graphically very demanding areas and weather effects.

You maybe however able to run an enb mod at 720p medium/high setting and get 50-60fps with your current set up. The first two screens from imageshack I uploaded are when I was running a HD 5850 :)

That's good news, thanks. The bummer is, Skyrim has been om my Steam wishlist for, like, forever but the price does not really come down to a level a game this old should be, at least as I see it. Not even during the last big sale.

Good for high end PC users. I'm not sure why they keep saying this though PS4 and X1 aren't even competing against the PC.

they do. i as example buy multi-plat games on pc which means the pc is taking game sales away from consoles.

why do people keep saying pc doesn't compete with consoles? sure, not as much as a ps4 vs. an xbox one but there are enough pc gamers who would play much more on console if there wouldn't be a pc to play on.

i can even say that the pc is the reason why i don't really care that much about next gen consoles right now.

In the end its the detail that developer puts into the game that makes the most difference to me. Graphically speaking, I prefer uncharted or the last of us over those pics. Over any next gen title shown to date too.

Next gen graphics but the AI was like gen 5 xD

AI?

AI has been the same since Goldeneye on the 64.

Skyrim has just as good of AI as any other game I've played.

I love CoT alternately RCRN and ELandFX are great. I have trouble with the ENB filters though s they bring my laptop to 15-25 FPS. Non ENB I can run at 50-60 @ 1080p on Ultra with SMIM installed. It's just those ENBs...

Skyrim can look so damned pretty with some modding. The problem is when it came out you needed to have spent at least $1000 on your rig to get it to run that way. I just couldn't afford that to get some ENB running.

But with project ENB and one of the lighting or climate mods it just looks so damned stunning. When I finally get around to upgrading my PC I should be able to enjoy the game that way. Of course Elder Scrolls 6 will probably be out by then ;)

Next Gen is not only about Graphics but more about new Experiences that are created with the technology and innovation that the new hardware received to make it possible like never before . I don't see any new AAA experiences (or) something beautiful like Journey created in PC so far, just having High FPS and Resolutions for the multiplatform games and Small indie titles. PS4 and Xb1 are bringing new experiences that's why we are excited for these, so don't just don't compare the PC graphics power to the Console because consoles are meant to be affordable for consumers and profitable for developers for enjoying new experiences in gameplay, art, visuals, music etc., not only in Graphics.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Actually, PC has its own advantages over consoles in certain areas such as the active community support, upgradibility, emulation, bug fixes/patches for legacy games etc. Just go on to skyrim nexus to see the staggering amount of content just for that game alone. Once you have played skyrim with 100+ mods on PC you'll ever wonder how you enjoyed the base game on consoles in the first place. Don't get started on controller is better than keyboard + mouse arguement because its just simply not. For certain games maybe yes, more efficient, but there are many more games and genres that are better experienced on precision, responsiveness and better key mapping on PC. FPS, mmo, RTS covers a wide number of games.

PC is expensive yes it is, not everyone can afford it, I agree with that. However, for those who can, it is a very accomplished, varied and powerful gaming platform in its own right.

Also the development effort is not marred by hardware limitation, IF the companies were to develop at the full potential of the PC platform. It is happening, ever heard of Star Citizen? X Rebirth? The length and scope of those games will not be fully possible on consoles, ambition should not be impaired by any limitations, PC is here to make sure of it.
