Forums - Nintendo - Eiji Aonuma take on easy games via Polygon

You have no idea how happy I am to finally hear Nintendo finally acknowledges the issue with Nintendo games holding gamers hands too much. Hearing this coming from Eiji Aonuma make me happy, he even got in a mini debate with his director to not put a hint in a certain area of the game because he felt it would of made it too easy. Hearing this make me look forward to the next Zelda Wii U and future Nintendo titles.

I'm not sure it sounds like Nintendo thinks that way, just Aonuma.  He said he had to fight for days just to take out that hint.

That was an interesting interview. I like how he emphasized that it's based on Link to the Past but is really its own thing.  The renting thing and the openness of the world really have my attention.  I hope this turns out to be a classic.

He mentioned Nintendo as a whole though.

So recently i was watching the "Quick Look" segment on Giant Bomb. Surely a hardcore gaming website. I was surprised to hear that these gaming veterans were complaining about how they didn't explain some of the stuff in Pokemon X/Y and just kind of put you there to explore.

So my point is that people are going to always complain. In more blunt terms. People are always going to bitch and moan till their jaw and fingers go numb from all the gripe.

Tell that to the designers of Fable. They hold your hand the whole damn game.

Nintendo, the 4kids of gaming. Glad Eiji is fully in charge of the next Zelda. I think Miyamoto isn't fully in charge of the next Zelda just like Skyward Sword.

Miyamoto isn't fully in charge at any game nowadays besides Pikmin maybe and his new IP. He oversees projects.

I hope Aonuma punched the director in the face real hard. The constant hand-holding has been recent Zelda games biggest weakness imo, and it needs to die.

This is the Nintnedo I grew up with!! Glad they're back, at least with this game.

With Eiji Aonuma in charge, that may become a reality. Just be sure to post your thoughts on Miiverse, he checks through their from time to time.
