Forums - Microsoft - Alan Wake Where's My Ending?

So I picked up the physical version of Alan Wake and I thought it was really good, I have little to complain about the game, until I got to the ending...  The game ended on a huge cliffhanger, but then I remembered that the physical version got the DLC for free, which btw I think is bs they make you buy the DLC to get the real ending.  So I start playing the DLC and once again it ended on a huge cliffhanger...Now I see there is another DLC but they force you to pay or it to get the ending.  This game is very story driven so for them to take the ending away is inexcusable...  I was having a lot of fun with the game, but this pretty much ruined my experience, its like reading a great book, but then the last chapter is torn out.  Anyway just needed to vent about that, anyone else really disspointed or did you not mind paying for the ending?

Well you get the real ending in DLC but we all know the real ending will always be in Alan Wake 3.

i just thought it was a very repetetive game, though the story was interesting... I think I got all the dlc too.

but if I liked it yes, it would be annoying. Cliffhangers have existed in all mediums for years forcing you to buy the next one. I'm not a fan of DLC relating to story content, as it always ends up fragmenting the experience because its never long enough to add a whole lot of meaningful stuff, but if its the ending it's like they just keep kicking the can a bit farther.
Simply put, I don't mind paying for the ending, if the ending comes as a sequal. Paying for an ending through DLC would undoubtedly be not satisfying, but I haven't had that happen yet.

MS hates you so they aren't going to give us one, and they will most likely cock block Remedy getting another publisher to pick it up the franchise.

As for the actual OP, well you should have got the PC version it comes with the DLC lol.

Dlc doesnt wrap up the story either, it was built to be a franchise, but didnt get the sales to make the franchise a priority...

I don't have a gaming PC and am not gonna make one for Alan Wake DLC lol.

I never buy DLC (not because of some moral principle, I just already have too many games to play as it is) so yeah the ending was a definite WTF moment. I got over it though. For me it was one of those games that was really more about the journey than the ending.

It does? I downloaded mine from Steam and as far as i can tell it was over after the 6th episode.

MS doesn't own Alan Wake so they can't stop Remedy from making a sequel. The PC port wasn't even published by MS.

Sam Lake said Alan Wake sold well enough to justify making a sequel. However, it took a long time for that to happen so they focused on a different project.

I'd like to see another Alan Wake, but this new game they're working on seems very interesting as well. And perhaps Alan Wake 2 will benefit from not coming so soon.
