Forums - Gaming - PS4 Leads XBone in Announced Games 156 to 70

yeah of course indie games count.... but in the PS4 list you have a ton of PS3, XB360 existing game like FEZ, Flow all that crap that can't really be counted as new launched games IMO... especially since I believe MS is also talking about porting some XBLA games to the one....

anyway that kind of fight is meaningless... at 70 title with all the blockbuster it is way enough to keep me busy until the next batch.... good for PS4 I guess... but it's like Google play store or apple store braging about the number of apps with more than half that are download just by the devlopper and his friends.... to me some of those ports will be just fillers....

Despite what that list may lead one to believe, I'm almost positive that after one year of the X1 and PS4 being out that the amount of released games for both systems will be pretty close to the same.

I dont think so. Most of the games announced are coming within 1 year. PS4 will certainly have the edge with all the PC ports/indie/f2p games just like those games give PS4 the edge at launch.

Sony has built a goodwill with a lot of pc devs in the last 6 months. We will only see more pc devs working on PS4 from now on, just recently the Amnesia devs announced SOMA for PC/PS4.

You're not taking into account Microsoft's indie program that they're launching (from what I hear) a few months after launch. When that happens their really won't be much of a reason for many of them to not port/make their game for the X1 because as the 360 has shown them, their is a market for quality XBLA games.

I'm willing to bet that by the end of one year the disparity between the two won't be like it is now. It will be closer to 1:1 for amount of games with probably a 15% or so difference between the two.

xbox 360 has almost 4000 indie games (arcade and indie section), but all i heard the last years is that 360 has no games. exactly the same people who said those indie games don't count say that this is a fair advantage for ps4 now. well...if this is the case, why didn't people praise the 360 for the huge games library?

I think that we need to use some common sense and count major releases(some would be indie, but most wouldn't). If you count them that way, they are much closer to the same amount. Also, besides the indie games that MS and Sony have both moneyhatted, most of the indie games will end up on both systems eventually.

And how would you decide which games to count and which ones not to?

How do you decide?  We like to use numbers for almost everything.  How about deciding now really means nothing.  Lets wait a year and we will count the number of Million+ sellers for each console.  That will determine how many games really matter.  The Wii had hundreds of shovelware games come out for it that literally were garbage.  So, have a hundred indie games on your list?  How muh of that is going to be garbage for both systems.  Most indie games are what I call "B" games.  They are like B movies, they have their place and sometimes they turn out to be good.  But most of the time, they are lower quality in every aspect.  Then you have that group of A games that get real advertising and decent budgets.  They either hit or miss with consumers, but generally have decent gameplay and quality of graphics.

Your right, its all very subjective and how do we really choose.

Lets stick to the numbers...

Quality > Volume

This list is silly.

"a few months after launch"

Thats like a whole year after Sony embraced indies when they announced the indie program alongside the PS4. A lot of indies only announce their games on PC/PS4 and they never seem to have XBone stretch goals on kickstarter.

I see a similar situation with non-indie PC devs.

Why are you making as if MS planned this whole thing out?

Sony drastically changed their policies when it came to indies. MS didnt. This is the main reason why PS4 is getting all these ports. To claim that MS made a wise decision is crazy considering that they changed their policy a few months ago....

Because they have, whether it's a good idea to launch at the time they are is debateable. They said they always had the indie programme in development, and people act like MS have no history with indies, er they championed them more than anyone else 7/8 years ago.

That makes no sense at all. Indie devs having access to your competitors platform a year before yours is putting yourself at a significant disadvantage. Clearly microsoft just didn't have their shit together.

What's silly about making people aware of announced games on soon to be released consoles?

I think what's silly in this thread are those who are trying to suggest that there's more quality games in the XB1's significantly smaller lineup.

I don't think there's an issue with your first point, but you know that most people won't leave it at that. This website is all about the wars. I'm just trying to be consistent with my posts.

I hope you weren't including me in that second point, because I'm not. I would suggest that both consoles are relatively even keel in popular titles announced that more than a few hundred thousand care about, with most of them multiplat anyway.
