I think that we need to use some common sense and count major releases(some would be indie, but most wouldn't). If you count them that way, they are much closer to the same amount. Also, besides the indie games that MS and Sony have both moneyhatted, most of the indie games will end up on both systems eventually.

And how would you decide which games to count and which ones not to?

How do you decide?  We like to use numbers for almost everything.  How about deciding now really means nothing.  Lets wait a year and we will count the number of Million+ sellers for each console.  That will determine how many games really matter.  The Wii had hundreds of shovelware games come out for it that literally were garbage.  So, have a hundred indie games on your list?  How muh of that is going to be garbage for both systems.  Most indie games are what I call "B" games.  They are like B movies, they have their place and sometimes they turn out to be good.  But most of the time, they are lower quality in every aspect.  Then you have that group of A games that get real advertising and decent budgets.  They either hit or miss with consumers, but generally have decent gameplay and quality of graphics.

Your right, its all very subjective and how do we really choose.

Lets stick to the numbers...
