I'm confused as to what I'm meant to be looking for. I search Dell Outlet, the results that come up are Dell Outlet. Google's format was too recognisable though for this to be fair.

Ahhhhh so thats how the Google lovers are doing it. ;)

Average Joe though wont realise. I guess thats why Bing is kicking its ass.

Bing was mentioned live on TV the other day instead of Google. It was on ITV's Xfactor. They said search for it on Bing or Google. They are starting to mention Bing alongside Google now.

Google used to be great, but Im glad the competition is gettig notice. I had to use Gmail at work and its got to be one of the worst Clients Ive used. They arent unstoppable. Google will fade slowly. Even Android isnt particularly big when you consider its sales against Windows as a Whole. Its like 7%?!

Hardly, no one I know uses Bing not because they are google lovers (some of it's features are just idiotic, promoting youtube over real search results, stuff like that) but because they view Bing as a bit of a joke. MS trying to push it on us made us laugh. I'm sure people would trust Yahoo over Bing.

Gmail is a crap email client, hotmail or yahoo have been going years and far more established than Gmail.

And Android vs Windows is the weirdest comparison ever, Android was designed as a competitor for Apple iOS and moved into small laptops. Windows has a monopoly on the Laptop market and will dwarf sales of any OS, mobile or otherwise, for as long as I can forsee.

Hmm, pie.

Its definately getting used more. Its usage share online is getting bigger each year at least in terms of marketshare. It was also a smart thing to include it in the actual search button on all WP8 devices. hitting the physical button brings up Bing instantly.

calm down there is a long way to go before bing will be a term like google it, and android is massive and only growing.

The term doesnt matter though does it.  It is the name for searching now, it has a life of its own.

My wife does the hoovering in our house.... with a Dyson.

not heard the term hoovering in a long time :)

But you might be right about the term.

Still Bing has a very long way to go before its a competing search engine in a meaningfull way.

Been a while since ive used bing, i see the results page is now near identicle to google. Guess its easier to immitate than to be differnt.

There's something wrong with the link for me, it just brings me to the usual Bing front page. Or maybe it's a region thing, who knows.

I only use bing for porn video search

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

she even asks me to carry the hoover upstairs for her... (it says dyson on it in big letters)  lol

Proprietary Eponyms (I had to look that up). In much of the UK, Playstation is still somewhat the common name for a gaming console and Nintendo is for a handheld, regardless of what it actually is.

Hmm, pie.

JayWoods posted this stupid Bing It On thing ages ago.

Now we need another thread about it?

I dont think the Nintendo one is true.  Playstation and xbox get used equally now.  Even seen xbox used in news stories and soaps as the proprietary eponym.

I guess it's mostly a generational thing. My grandmother and parents still call my playstation "the Nintendo". Weird thing is that I've only owned 1 nintendo console, but 3 ps's and an xbox. I'm sure when I get the PS4, they'll also call it "the Nintendo".

Maybe I notice it less as I don't hang around kids as much as I used to but Nintendo one is a definite because at one point there was only Nintendo. I hear playstation used all the time still however Xbox is more common. Eitherway, all terms are easier than 'games console'. Hoover is easier than 'vancuum cleaner'. Coke is easier than saying 'Coca cola' or Pepsi. And on topic, 'Google it' is easier than 'search for it on the internet'.

Hmm, pie.

I use both, but use Bing a lot more now. Why? Well, I wound up literally having to switch to Internet Explorer on my computer I built. Both Firefox and Chrome have random freezes that I didn't want to deal with, and could find absolutely no solution to, whereas IE didn't. I don't ever go to the website, I just use the address bar...and that happens to use Bing. First or second result is always the one I need, so not a big deal. Plus I get points for using Bing which buy me cool stuff for free.
