He's getting worried because of his bet lol! If its 5.5mil sales FW (1 day of sales) then he's in trouble, his bet was an impossible 6mil FW which even i thought was crazy (i predicted 4mil), cuz with 5.5mil digital sales would have to be 500k which seems low cuz thats only 8-9% of total sales. you can't guess digital sales, even if they're obvious.


i kno i kno! Im just saying alot of people bought this on eShop, i mean it took people god knows how long to download the game cuz everybody else in the world was trying to as well lol.  i think it'll be way over 10% digital no matter wat though

Correct, people don't generally pre-order a title like Pokemon (or most Nintendo games for that matter). X and Y sold well over 1.5 million in one day in the USA.

What about Europe? Something like 1.5-2m in USA would mean it had to sell ~1m in Europe. And did MC/Famitsu release numbers for Japan yet or is this just your own estimate?

No, I did not forget it. Let's say 1.75m in USA + 1m in Europe + 2.25m Japan. That still leaves 500k for the rest of the world. Unless you expect it to do upwards of 3m in Japan.

It released in every country where you can find a 3DS.  I forgot to type that. 

I don't expect X/Y to sell close to 3m at all. I think this situation is a tricky one, because if rest of the world sales will be 500k, then that would mean that it would almost outsell the highest rest of world game for the 3DS, which is currently held by 3D Land (0.58m)

INSANE! GO Pokemon & 3DS!!

Don't forget that game released not only in US, EU and Japan, but in a lot of smaller markets around the world. Australia & New Zeland, Asia, South and Cental America etc etc. For example, we've seen huge lines from Brasil and even from Costa Rica, lol.

So ofc 5,5M opening is possible.

I seriously don't see how it's so hard to believe unless you wanted Pokemon X/Y to sell less than the other pokemon titles. You've been on this site long enough to know that pre-orders are not the best way to determine first day/week sales.

That's where you're wrong . It didn't release in Iceland.

Yeah, I think rest of the world sales should be closer to 350k perhaps. And I really don't expect Europe sales to reach 1m. So let's say 850k in Europe + 1.75m in USA + 2.5m (being a bit optimistic perhaps) in Japan + 350k ROW = 5.45m WW. This is probably best case scenario. It's possible that USA is closer to 1.65m and Japan could be lower. So my prediction now is 4.9-5.4m.

I think rest of the world could be more. Only in my city over than 1k was sold. But I don't how they count because sometimes sales in Brazil go to US charts

Why are you comparing it to GTA? Why not to the other pokemon games?
